About the role

We are looking for an experienced Analytics Engineer to join our team for a 6-month project focused on redesigning and enhancing our data models and reporting layer. This role is key to establishing a robust data foundation using dbt, SQL, and modern data modelling best practices. Reporting to the Lead Analytics Engineer, who oversees the data tagging, modelling, and reporting workstreams, you'll play a critical role in a high-impact initiative aimed at migrating and transforming subscriptions and app data. 

This project is essential to future-proofing our customer proposition and enabling sustained growth. You’ll be working within a large, cross-functional team of over 50 professionals, contributing specifically to the data workstream. Responsibilities will span data platform migration, implementing tracking strategies, rigorous testing, and rebuilding our reporting layer using newly modelled datasets. With tight deadlines and clear deliverables, we are seeking someone who can hit the ground running and provide immediate value through strong technical delivery and collaboration.  

 

Key Deliverables:  

  • Provide subject matter expertise to help shape and guide the overall data modelling strategy for the project. 
  • Design and implement intermediate data models to support a comprehensive and unified view of subscriptions data. 
  • Lead the planning and execution of MVP data mart development to enable robust, accurate, and scalable reporting.  
  • Plan, scope, and initiate the build of fast-follow development phases.  

 

As a Data Analyst you will;

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on data modelling throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Design and implement scalable and maintainable dbt models for our subscriptions data domain. 
  • Create and maintain a suite of dbt tests to ensure data quality, consistency, and trustworthiness. 
  • Collaborate with data analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to rebuild reporting marts using the new data model. 
  • Provide guidance on data modelling best practices, performance optimisation, and modular design in dbt. 
  • Participate in code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions to uplift team capability. 

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as an Analytics Engineer, Data Engineer, or similar role. 
  • Deep proficiency in SQL for data transformation and analysis. 
  • Strong hands-on experience with dbt (Data Build Tool), including advanced modelling techniques and test writing. 
  • Solid understanding of dimensional modelling and modern data stack principles. 
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative workflows. 
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and work independently with minimal supervision.  

 

Nice to Have: 

  • Experience working with subscription-based business models and datasets is highly desirable. 
  • Experience with cloud data warehouses such as Azure.  
  • Familiarity with data visualisation tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau) and their data requirements. 
  • Previous involvement in large-scale data migration or re-platforming projects.
