Data Analyst | Northampton

Portman Finance Group are seeking a highly analytical and proactive Data Analyst to join the team. This is a key role within the business, with responsibility for leading data analytics and reporting, ensuring data integrity across internal systems, and driving the ongoing development and implementation of our data strategy.

You will work closely with leadership, marketing, sales, and operations teams to turn complex data into clear, actionable insights that directly influence decision-making and business growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Data Analytics & Insight
  • Construct SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyse data.
  • Translate raw data into meaningful insights, reports, and visualisations using Zoho Analytics.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders, supporting key business decisions.
  • Monitor and analyse business performance and trends across various departments (e.g. sales, marketing, operations).
  • Data Management
  • Own and maintain the accuracy, structure, and cleanliness of data across all internal systems (primarily Zoho CRM).
  • Manage third-party data procurement and ensure effective enrichment processes to maximise value from all data sources.
  • Implement data governance best practices and ensure high standards of data integrity.
  • Data Strategy
  • Define and evolve Portman's data strategy in line with business growth and digital transformation goals.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data architecture, reporting capabilities, and system integrations.
  • Advise on the adoption of new tools, technologies, and processes to scale the business's use of data.
  • Support the strategic use of data in campaign targeting, operational efficiency and sales generation.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in a Data Analyst role, ideally within financial services, or a B2B sales environment.
  • Strong SQL skills (writing, debugging, and optimising queries).
  • Solid experience with data visualisation and reporting tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills - able to explain complex data to non-technical audiences.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce, Zoho) and/or marketing automation platforms.
  • Familiarity with third-party data enrichment tools.
  • Exposure to data warehousing or Python for data manipulation is a bonus.

  • Strong organisational skills with a high attention to detail;
  • Ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks at any given time in a fast-paced environment;

  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as being a team player.
