Purpose of this role

To deliver and develop SQL server data warehouses, reporting services reports and reporting solutions including SSRS, Power BI, SSIS ETL Process and analysis cubes. To deliver and support the business requirements for reporting and dashboard solutions using complex but efficient queries.


Your Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain SQL Server Data Warehouses and Data Marts including ETL processes using SQL Server SSIS.
  • Design and development of Business Intelligence reports SSRS and Power BI.
  • Data interrogation and analysis to support project team and business users.
  • Support the controls around data management and warehouse & cube refreshes.
  • Support the maintenance of the business rules in the Business Intelligence warehouse.
  • Explore new ways of presenting information and communicating this to the business.
  • Maintaining all software and database objects in the appropriate source/version control systems and working with colleagues to ensure these are secured adequately.
  • Maintain System user access and release control in accordance with IT policies.
  • Ensure the integrity and control of the Business Intelligence system and reports created to ensure compliance to business process.
  • As part of the Business Intelligence team - support the roll out of business intelligence into new business areas, including carrying out business analysis.
  • Training of business super users to ensure understanding of the systems.
  • Any other duties as required by the manager.

Experience/Knowledge

  • Experience with Microsoft SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services), SSIS (SQL Server integration services), Power BI and SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Services).
  • Experience with SQL Server and SQL Server with strong emphasis on SQL programming, T-SQL, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
  • Experience designing and building data warehouses and star schemas.
  • Experience in Power BI features such as DAX and Power Query.
  • Experience with BI tools, including Microsoft Business Intelligence Development Studio and Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • Experience using source control software and deploying reports and dashboards from Visual Studio.

Abilities/Skills

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to performance tune queries and databases.
  • Ability to communicate with senior management and technical professionals both verbal and written Data analysis and data mining skills.
  • Customer service orientated.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of non-Microsoft relational databases [My SQL / Postgres/ Oracle].
  • Experience or experience of APIs.
  • Knowledge or experience of Power Apps.
  • Experience of training software developers and/or end users on business intelligence tools.

  • Cost of living annual pay review.
  • Company pension contributions up to 10% if employees contribute 5%.
