Ophthalmic clinical research is our passion – we have helped our customers deliver some of the world’s largest observational studies and will continue to support research that improves patient care.About YouWe are looking for a talented Business Intelligence Developer to lead on the development of innovative and high-quality BI solutions in support of the mediSIGHT product roadmap and other key business initiatives. Additionally you will be responsible for providing ongoing support for existing data warehouses and reporting.Our EMR data sources are designed specifically to capture most data items in a structured and consistent manner, and it is crucial that our integrated BI solutions can provide access to accurate and reliable reporting, empowering users to extract maximum value and key insights from the data.You will lead on the development of new Business Intelligence solutions across a range of key projects, taking ownership of data warehouse developments and improvements and the creation of high-quality data visualisations and reports. This will also include the delivery of accurate data extracts and the development of robust data transformations.The successful candidate will be an experienced MS SQL and MS BI stack developer, with a proven ability to play a lead role in large and complex projects. They will be proactive in their approach and confident dealing with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external alike.The successful candidate will:Lead on the development of data warehouses (SQL Server), data visualisations and reports (SSRS and Power BI), and data transformations (SQL, SSIS)Provide ongoing support for on-premise and Azure production data warehouses and reporting, including remote installs and upgrades on live customer sitesTake on the responsibility of a lead BI developer role in multiple projects and workstreams, defining the scope of projects and contributing to the BI delivery roadmapWork in a fast-paced development team alongside Clinical Analysts, Developers, Engineers and Testers, to deliver high quality developments against detailed specificationsEngage with relevant departments and stakeholders across the business, to ensure that solutions are developed and implemented to a high standard with all required functionalityReport on progress and demonstrate new developments to key stakeholders and customers, delivering training sessions when requiredEnsure that confidentiality and information governance policies are strictly adhered to when working with sensitive dataDevelop and maintain appropriate documentation e.G., solution designs and process documentation, ensuring that such documentation is kept up to dateProactively maintain collaborative and supportive working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholdersAssist the wider Data Services team with data extracts, data analysis and data validation as requiredThe role requires:In-depth working knowledge and experience working with relational databasesBackground in data warehouse design (e.G. dimensional modelling) and data analysisAdvanced MS SQL Server skillset (T-SQL, stored procedures, functions, dynamic SQL)Proven experience of developing complex reports using SSRS or closely equivalent toolsExperience of working with large or complex datasets and manipulating and transforming dataNumerical literacyMeticulous attention to detail with a focus on qualityAnalytical mind with a problem-solving aptitudeExcellent communication and organisational skillsStrong work ethic and a commitment to acting with transparency and integrityExperience or knowledge of the following would be an advantage:Software support and investigating / troubleshooting technical issues.Software development methodologies and using supporting tools such as Azure DevOps.Working with health data / clinical dataCode management and version control systems e.G. GITDashboard development using modern BI tools e.G.
