Business Development Manager

Job Type: Full-time (Mon-Fri),
Permanent Location: Teesside with trips to HO

NRL are working with a leading engineering business who are looking for a Business Development Manager to join their team.

This role is responsible for detecting, shaping, and realising new business opportunities in line with the company’s strategic growth plan. Focused on strengthening market position by managing client relationships, identifying business opportunities, supporting tender activities, and contributing to long-term business expansion.

Details/duties:

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities in line with the company’s strategic objectives, focusing on market expansion across Energy, Renewables, Chemicals, and related sectors.

• Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with external clients and internal stakeholders to promote the company’s services and improve market reach.

• Actively identify and develop opportunities within the assigned geographical area to support regional business growth.

• Maintain and update CRM tools to ensure accurate tracking of business activities, leads, and forecasts.

• Attend industry conferences, exhibitions, and networking events to represent the company, gather market intelligence, and build industry presence.

• Lead the prequalification process and contribute to the tendering process in collaboration with the Tendering Team, ensuring strategic alignment and competitive positioning.

• Develop and recommend pricing strategies based on market intelligence, competitor analysis, and the company’s value proposition.

• Provide regular reporting to senior management on business development activities, sales forecasts, and pipeline health, supported by data and insights.

• Continuously analyse market trends, client needs, and competitor activities to refine strategies and identify emerging opportunities.

• Identify and assess potential partnerships or acquisition opportunities that support long-term business growth and strategic objectives.

Qualifications and Work Experience

• Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field.

• Essential: Experience in business development or sales within a relevant industry, with a proven track record of achieving sales targets and securing new business. • Desirable: Master’s degree or MBA. • Desirable: Experience in the energy, renewables or chemical sectors.

Job Specific:

• Essential: Strong industry network and experience in Energy, Renewables, and Chemical sectors.

• Essential: Proven ability to identify and capitalise on strategic partnerships and growth opportunities.

• Desirable: Proficiency in CRM systems and data analytics tools.

• Desirable: Understanding of market dynamics, pricing strategies, and tender processes.

Skills:

• Essential: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.

• Essential: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop strategic insights and make data-driven decisions.

• Essential: Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast- paced environment.

• Essential: High level of initiative and self-motivation, with a focus on achieving results and driving business growth.

• Desirable: Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
