We are recruiting a Business Development Manager to join our growing business to identify and develop new opportunities in Scotland and the North of England. The Business Development Manager will build and maintain client relationships with selected key accounts and drive revenue growth. Working with the internal Projects Manager and Strategic Relationship Manager, the Business Development Manager will pay a key role in the strategic direction of our business by supporting with innovative observations, and input to maintain and expand our market presence within the Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical and Biotech Environment.

The role:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with prospective and selected existing customers for the ongoing development of new business.

  • Build strong trusted relationships with strategic and focus clients and develop a strong pipeline of sales opportunities across new business and existing key clients.

  • Work with internal Project Managers to ensure high level of client selection and retention.

  • To support the agreed strategic target clients and prospects by making business telephone calls, in-person and collaborative visits, along with presentations to increase the profile of the company.

  • Maintain and update the CRM database, Saleforce, by ensuring all client interactions, sales activities and opportunities are accurately recorded and kept up to date.

  • Regularly review and update the sales pipeline within Salesforce, ensure all opportunities are correctly staged and progress is tracked.

  • Regularly audit and identify enhancements to ensure accuracy and process improvements on data quality and sales notes.

  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for the Leadership team to highlights progress and performance and ensure all details related to opportunities, projects and other key activities are thoroughly prepared for regular sales activity catch up sessions.

  • Be the company representative in the market and attend industry events, conferences and networking to increase brand visibility.

  • To work towards and exceed specific sales targets and KPI’s.

  • To maintain internal and external network of contacts to enhance personal and corporate reputation and success.

    The person:

  • Proven experience in business development, sales or a related field.

  • Demonstrate success in selling complex engineering solutions or services, particularly in highly regulated industries like Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical and Biotech.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to influence an audience.

  • Proactive, self-motivated with strong networking ability and the ability to build contacts within the sector.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Proficiency in using CRM software and MS Office.

  • Skills in identifying market trends, potential clients and business opportunities within the Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical and Biotech sectors is desirable.
