Description

To support the successful delivery of a new Data Warehouse (DWH) capability for Polo Managing Agency (PMA), this role will provide expert business analysis across the build and implementation lifecycle. The BA will be responsible for capturing business and data requirements, mapping data from source systems (primarily PAS), and ensuring alignment between business needs and the technical DWH solution.

This role requires strong experience in London Market insurance operations, data modelling, and systems integration, particularly between PAS and reporting/analytics platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Lead business and data requirement gathering from underwriting, finance, claims, and operations teams.

Develop source-to-target mappings from PAS and other upstream systems into the DWH.

Analyse end-to-end data flows across operational and reporting systems.

Document and optimise processes relating to data extraction, transformation, and load (ETL).

Translate business requirements into clear, testable functional and non-functional specifications.

Produce and maintain data dictionaries, lineage documentation, and reporting logic.

Act as the primary liaison between business SMEs and DWH technical delivery teams.

Facilitate requirements workshops, data validation sessions, and UAT preparation.

Support definition of data quality rules, reconciliation checks, and exception handling mechanisms.

Assist in establishing data governance practices for ongoing DWH use.

Assist with traceability of business requirements through development, testing, and delivery phases.

Collaborate on system testing, UAT, and go-live planning, ensuring completeness and accuracy.

Contribute to project planning, RAID logs, and issue escalation.

Support vendor evaluation and engagement where third-party solutions are involved.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential:

Strong knowledge of London Market insurance operations and data, including policy, claims, and financial data structures.

Demonstrable experience on a DWH project or large-scale data integration (preferably from PAS to DWH).

Hands-on experience in mapping source system data to target models (e.g., source-to-target specifications).

Ability to work with structured and semi-structured data formats, including a working understanding of data models.

Proficient in producing clear documentation: process maps, data lineage diagrams, functional specs.

Effective communicator with stakeholders at all levels including underwriters, actuaries, and IT delivery teams.

Highly analytical with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

D esirable:

Experience with London Market PAS platforms (e.g., OpenTWINS, DXC Assure, Sequel, IRIS).

Knowledge of BI/MI tooling (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik).

Familiarity with data warehouse technologies (e.g., SQL, Snowflake, Azure, Informatica, etc.).

Exposure to Agile delivery and use of tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
