Job Title: Assistant Accountant
Location: KY11, Scotland (Hybrid may be considered)
Contract Type: 16-Month
Rate: £19.08 per hour (PAYE)

Role Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Accountant to support project financial reporting and control for contracts under £1m. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a collaborative finance team and gain experience in a dynamic project-based environment. You will be working closely with Project Managers, the Project Accounting Manager, and various stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting, reconciliations, and compliance with financial processes.

Key Responsibilities:
Prepare Contract Status Reports (CSRs) for contracts < £1m.
Chair reviews of CSRs with the Project Management function.
Raise invoice requests and support revenue recognition processes.
Perform reconciliations and support timely project closure.
Maintain and update deliverable data within systems.
Run, update, and manage Excel macros for financial reporting.
Assist the Project Accounting Manager with reporting, compliance, and analysis tasks.
Ensure data integrity across financial systems and interfaces.
Support monthly journal entries and maintain updated project trading data.
Conduct analysis of SSR data within SAP BPC, ensuring budget and commentary accuracy.
Provide ad hoc financial reports and analysis as required.

Knowledge & Experience Required:
Strong general finance knowledge and understanding of financial controls.
Awareness or experience using SAP and BPC is advantageous.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (macros/VBA a bonus).
Demonstrated ability to identify process improvements and implement changes.
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

Qualifications:
Part-qualified accountant actively studying (CIMA/ACCA/ICAS) or
Qualified by experience within a project or commercial finance environment.
Previous roles may include: Assistant Project Accountant, Financial Reporting Assistant, or similar.

Experience supporting finance within a project-driven environment.
Confidence working with cross-functional teams and managing competing deadlines.
A proactive attitude with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
An appetite for learning and improving financial processes
