About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Science consultant to join our Digital & Data community. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data science, mathematical modelling, and machine learning, with a focus on using advanced analytics techniques to support data‑centric decision‑making in both public and private sector organisations.


Responsibilities

  • Work to agile best practices and collaborate cross‑functionally with multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Use technical skills to problem‑solve with clients and contribute to internal projects.
  • Participate in in‑person white‑boarding sessions and use asynchronous communication tools such as Teams.
  • Engage in hybrid working, spending a minimum of two days per week in the office or on client site, with flexibility to work up to five days a week on client assignments.
  • Utilise a range of tools and technologies tailored to the task, such as Databricks, Python, PySpark, R, Excel, Palantir Foundry, and Power BI.

Qualifications – Essential Requirements

  • A degree, Master’s or PhD from a leading university in data science, mathematics, operational research, physics, or statistics.
  • Experience designing and developing models and conducting evidence‑based analysis to support decision‑making.
  • Ability to translate business needs into analytical approaches and communicate findings to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Experience across the full analytics and modelling lifecycle – problem formulation, exploratory data analysis, model design, building, testing, and handover.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Python, SQL, Excel and data visualisation solutions.
  • Experience delivering solutions in specialisms such as advanced analytics & data science, algorithm design, operational research, data engineering, big data and cloud platforms, or dashboard development.
  • A genuine affinity for problem‑solving and an inquisitive mindset.

Nice to Have

  • Excellent stakeholder management, project management and communication skills.
  • Experience providing consulting and advisory services to stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the software or product development lifecycle for analytical solutions.
  • Experience in client presentations and developing data‑ and behavioural‑science propositions.

Security Clearance

Some UK roles at PA Consulting require a UK security clearance. All PA employees must undergo background checks and achieve the Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Some UK roles require higher levels of National Security Vetting; applicants must have at least five years of continuous residency in the UK.

Assessment Process

  • Initial call with a PA Tech Recruiter to discuss your application, the role, and PA.
  • Round 1: Competency or technical interview (60 minutes).
  • Round 2: Competency or technical interview, whichever was not done in Round 1 (60 minutes).
  • Final round: Meeting with a PA leader – mini case study and discussion around client‑centricity (60 minutes).
