Are you interested in building the software and data infrastructure that powers advanced data science in the media advertising landscape? Does the world of AI and automation grab your attention?

As a Placement Data Science Engineer at Medialab, you will join therapidly developing data team, acting as the engineering engine behind our modelling infrastructure. You will be responsible for building the Python tools, automated pipelines, and AI solutions that empower our econometricians to measure media investment, create compelling data stories, and automate insights with unprecedented speed and accuracy.

We are looking for practical, logical, detail-oriented and above-all, enthusiastic placement students to support in delivering robust infrastructure and building on the technical capabilities of our products.

We will help you apply your software engineering, Python, and problem-solving skills to practical real-world applications in the media advertising landscape.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Support the development and maintenance of data science tools, improving automation, efficiency, and scalability.

  • Work closely with data scientists and stakeholders to refine and enhance our internal modelling and data analysis tools, transforming manual workflows into reliable infrastructure.

  • Support in the hands-on development of AI agents and rapid Proofs of Concept (POCs).

  • Implement and improve machine learning workflows, supporting the deployment and monitoring of models.

  • Act as frontline technical support, troubleshooting and applying user feedback to iteratively improve internal tools.

  • Write clean, testable code and maintain clear technical documentation.

  • Manage development tickets within an Agile environment.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

MUST HAVE SKILLS

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science

  • Proficiency in Python, specifically with popular libraries like Pandas and NumPy.

  • Highly capable with Microsoft Excel and the wider MS Office suite.

  • Exposure to SQL for querying and managing structured datasets.

  • Theoretical understanding of machine learning concepts and statistical techniques.

  • Foundational experience with version control (Git) and collaborative coding environments.

  • Goodcommunicationskills.

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS

  • Pragmatic approach to problem solving.

  • Inquisitive engineering mindset with a strong desire to build and automate.

  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.

  • Be a genuine team player whilst also being able to deliver on a task you are responsible for.

  • Quick learner, pro-active mind set, resourceful, and able to think for self.

  • Positive attitude.

  • Interest in econometrics or familiarity with CI/CD concepts would be useful but not essential.
