This is an exciting job opportunity for you to light the way as aValidation EngineerApprenticeinCambridgewith Telensa.

This Apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to experience from day one what it is like to be an integral part of our team in a fast-paced working environment. You will learn about all technical aspects of our smart Outdoor Lighting Control products, including the product's firmware behavior and how to go about testing in an R&D development environment.

You will have the opportunity of gaining an apprenticeship qualification up to degree level with this role if you choose to.

During your 3-year apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to:

Work closely with a number of internal departments including the System Test team, the Hardware Development team, and the Product Management team.

You’ll learn to take our Outdoor Lighting Control nodes and base station products and build experience with the following activities:

  1. Loading firmware images
  2. Device configuration
  3. Device calibration
  4. Preparation of test samples including soldering skills
  5. Conducting System Tests
  6. Capturing and interpretation of logs
  7. Verification of intended device behavior
  8. Creation of test strategies to evaluate firmware changes
  9. Assist with verification testing of new products and develop your diagnosis and fault-finding skills

More about you

  1. Strong GCSE results / BTEC attainment with at least grade B / Level 6 in Mathematics, English, and Science.
  2. Knowledge of electronics, engineering, or computing is preferable.
  3. A keen interest and/or eagerness to learn about embedded electronics, computing, and testing automation.
  4. A drive to understand how electronic devices work and an instinct to investigate.
  5. Home projects on a Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or equivalent will impress.
  6. Understanding of Microsoft Office programs, but we appreciate you may not be an experienced user. You will have an opportunity to learn these skills on the job.
  7. Good communicator, team player, and dedicated.
  8. Passionate, energized, and motivated.
  9. Proactive with your approach.
  10. Aged 18 plus.
  11. Resident in England. The position is office-based in Pampisford, Cambridge.

What happens once you complete your apprenticeship?

Most of our Apprentices are offered a role at Signify having successfully demonstrated the appropriate skills and behavior for effective performance. Alternatively, there are opportunities for Higher-Level Apprenticeships which can be topped up further to full degree level.
