Join us as an Underwriting Data Analystin our Motor Underwriting Team: We’re looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated team player to join our exciting team as we look to grow our brands and strengthen our presence in the Motor Insurance market.

What you’ll be doing

You will be responsible for the design, creation, and implementation of insights solutions for our Motor Underwriting Team to support the management of portfolios and influence change.

Your typical day could be focused on building an ETL process from an upstream data source and creating tables/views that can be used by a dashboard that you have designed and created. You may also be analysing outputs and presenting back insights from your analysis to various stakeholders, building on your Underwriting experience. You will implement creative approaches to solving complex problems with ambiguous paths to resolution. In addition to building new features, you will constantly be improving and expanding existing solutions to meet the needs of the Underwriting Team.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Support the management of our Core Motor product portfolio, reviewing how we’re performing and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Consolidating data from various sources via ETL processes
  • Iteration, expansion, and maintenance of the data warehouse/DataMart.
  • SQL performance tuning
  • Dashboard development is preferable in Tableau.
  • Analysing data to help DLG get the most out of its data assets in both ad hoc and industrialised environments.
  • Pro-actively identifying & solving business problems & bottlenecks.
  • Developing solutions to collect and consolidate new data points
  • Being responsible for projects throughout their lifespan; from conception, development, launch, and beyond
  • Driving best practices and technical excellence
  • Enacting and enhancing our underwriting controls through the use of dashboard reporting
  • Working in collaboration with a multi-disciplined trading team

What you’ll need

  • Experience working with Tableau
  • Deep understanding of SQL
  • Strong knowledge of Database and Data Warehousing concepts
  • Experienced ETL developer
  • Strong Data Visualization skills
  • Ability to present to senior stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Exposure to AWS: (Redshift, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, Glue) is a plus.
  • Experience of Underwriting in a General Motor Insurance role
  • Ability to innovate & work in a fast-paced environment across a breadth of initiatives
