We're recruiting for a Temporary Accommodation Assistant for a client of ours based in Newcastle city centre. The main role of a Temporary Accommodation Assistant is to support the Department's Management Team by ensuring that the service provides high levels of stakeholder satisfaction.

This is a temporary role starting 16th June through to 26th September 2025, you must be fully available w/c 11th and 18th August to support during clearing week. £12.60 per hour, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, predominately 09:00 - 17:30. This role is campus based so you must live in the North East to be considered.

Job purpose
To provide an efficient administrative service to students and other guests in university owned or managed accommodation over the summer period and leading up to the September intake.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure a full working knowledge of both the University accommodation and partner residences to fully inform students and commercial customers of current options available.
  • Answer student and commercial customer queries face to face, via telephone, web, email and social media.
  • Support with the allocation of rooms to all students and commercial bookings.
  • Support students whilst signing contracts and completing their booking, ensuring all students understand the terms and conditions offered.
  • Work with and support the wider Accommodation Team.
  • Raise invoices for rent and other charges and monitor payments and accounts.
  • Administrative tasks that includes room allocation and offers of accommodation, room availability, invoicing, debt monitoring, record keeping, data input, maintaining spreadsheets and filing.
  • Liaise with relevant colleagues to ensure the efficient allocation and usage of rooms, to include matters such as viewing, key issue, moving in and notification of vacant rooms.
  • Liaise with the Academic Departments and other colleagues with regard to student applications.
  • Sell accommodation facilities at Open Days and support with any other promotional activities.

    Skills/ Experience required
  • Excellent data entry skills, and the ability to ensure data integrity
  • A background within customer service
  • Experience within an accommodation administration role would be desirable
  • Minimum of GCSE Grade C/O Level, or equivalent in Mathematics and English Language and/or experience and staff development relevant to the post.
