Data Engineering Lead

Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading facilities management company to recruit a Technical Development Lead for its Decarbonisation and Energy division.

The Technical Development Lead role comes with a starting salary of up to £90,000 + car allowance + benefits package.

Responsibilities and duties of the Technical Development Lead role

Reporting to the Engineering and Design Director you will:

Lead the planning and development of decarbonisation strategies for public and private sector clients.
Conduct detailed technical and financial feasibility studies for low-carbon technologies (e.g., heat pumps, HVAC, BMS, solar PV).
Guide teams through the preparation and submission of grant applications (e.g., PSDS, GHNF, HNES).
Provide technical leadership across RIBA Stages 0-4 and Stage 7 to ensure integrated engineering and commercial outcomes.
Oversee building and system-level energy modelling for performance optimisation.
Develop bespoke modelling tools for energy forecasting, demand-side management, and system analysis.
Create robust business cases and financial models to support funding bids and project viability.
Present complex technical and financial insights to internal and external stakeholders.
Support the optimisation of building energy systems via digital twin models, analytics, and BEMS improvements.
Collaborate across engineering, commercial, business development, and delivery teams to ensure successful project execution.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Energy Systems, Building Physics, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in decarbonisation project development or low-carbon energy consultancy.
Proven expertise in energy modelling, techno-economic analysis, and system design.
Strong knowledge of low-carbon technologies and relevant standards (e.g., PAS 2035, CIBSE Heat Pump Code of Practice).
Demonstrated experience in preparing successful funding applications (e.g., PSDS, GHNF, HNES).
Proficiency in using modelling tools and data analytics platforms for energy systems.
Familiarity with regulatory and policy frameworks for decarbonisation and energy efficiency.
