Technical Architect – Data Migration

Location:Remote - must be UK based

Work Pattern:Full time/12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Security Clearance:Active SC preferred, but can consider SC Clearable

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Technical Architect to lead a complex data migration project. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in MongoDB, Java, and Spring Boot microservices. This role requires a strategic thinker who can design scalable, efficient, and robust solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and oversee the end-to-end data migration strategy, ensuring integrity, efficiency, and minimal downtime.
  • Architect, develop, and optimize MongoDB database structures to support migration and ongoing application needs.
  • Provide technical leadership on Java and Spring Boot microservices architecture, ensuring best practices and scalability.
  • Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and business teams to ensure a seamless migration process.
  • Define technical standards, guidelines, and best practices for data architecture and microservices development.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues related to data migration and system performance.
  • Ensure compliance with security, data privacy, and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Technical Architect, with a focus on data migration projects.
  • Strong hands-on experience with MongoDB, including data modelling, performance tuning, and migration strategies.
  • Expertise in Java and Spring Boot microservices architecture.
  • Experience with ETL processes and migration tools.
  • Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in MongoDB, Java, or cloud platforms.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
  • Knowledge of API design and integration patterns.
