Tyre Science Engineer
Location: Banbury, UK (Onsite)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: Up to £80k (Experience Based)

We are seeking an experienced and driven Tyre Science Engineer to contribute to the development and application of advanced simulation tools focused on tyre modelling and vehicle performance analysis. Based in Banbury, UK, this position will support both factory-based and limited trackside operations, collaborating closely with engineering teams across design, electronics, and vehicle dynamics.

Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and continuously improve physical and empirical tyre models.
Lead correlation efforts between models and real-world data from rig and track testing.
Build tools for analysis of tyre behaviour across simulations (lap sim, DIL, HIL) and real events.
Develop infrastructure to process, analyse, and visualise tyre data effectively.
Maintain an accurate and up-to-date tyre parameter database for use across performance tools.
Support race and test events from the factory and on-site as needed, providing timely tyre performance insights.
Contribute to simulation-led event preparation and reporting, including session debriefs.
Mentor junior engineers and interns, sharing knowledge and guiding their development.
Interface with control systems and electronics teams to ensure sensor reliability and data quality.
Lead or support tyre testing activities with a data-driven approach to insights and reporting.
Drive and manage performance-related projects, from objective setting to test planning, analysis and reporting.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline, with strong knowledge of applied mathematics or engineering.
At least 5 years’ experience in motorsport, vehicle dynamics, or automotive performance engineering.
Experience in tyre modelling and simulation within a racing or high-performance automotive environment.
Prior Formula One experience is advantageous.
Technical Skills & Tools
Advanced experience in MATLAB & Simulink.
Object-oriented programming skills (preferably C# or C++).
Familiarity with symbolic or acausal modelling tools (Modelica, SimScape, etc.) is a plus.
Understanding of MAT product integration with tools such as vTAG, System Monitor, and GDE libraries.
Strong data handling and visualisation skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
