SQL Developer - Manchester

My client is a growing SaaS company focused on delivering innovative solutions with a strong emphasis on people and product. With a culture centred on collaboration, creativity and continuous improvement, they are now looking for a skilled SQL Developer to join their R&D team. This role offers the opportunity to shape the company’s SQL estate, optimise performance, and support data-driven decisions across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and evolve the SQL Server estate, including performance tuning and optimisation

Write, review and improve complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and database structures

Support cross-functional teams with their data requirements

Troubleshoot slow-running queries and address performance bottlenecks

Respond to and resolve support tickets ranging from basic updates to complex data merges

Monitor database performance and proactively identify improvements

Contribute to the development of data integrity processes and automation tools

Skills and Experience

3+ years’ experience as a SQL Developer or in a similar data-focused role

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, indexing, and query optimisation

Experience with Azure SQL and related services (e.g. Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics is a plus)

Strong understanding of data security and governance best practices

Experience with SSRS, Power BI, or similar tools is advantageous

Comfortable working in Agile, cross-functional teams

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly

Previous experience in a SaaS environment is beneficial
