Job Title: SQL Data Analyst

We are looking for an Expert in SQL with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to work closely with our functional and data teams. This is a hands-on data role requiring deep experience in writing and optimising complex queries, analysing large datasets, and identifying data quality issues.

Responsibilities
  • Perform data analysis by querying databases to extract, review, and interpret data.
  • Write complex SQL queries for exploratory data analysis, reporting, and investigation.
  • Investigate and understand how tables relate, uncovering discrepancies between expected and actual data.
  • Identify and document data quality issues, spot outliers, and produce outputs including percentages of outliers.
  • Liaise closely with Functional Teams, BI, BA, PO, and Data Teams to validate requirements and challenge assumptions where necessary.
  • Create Source-to-Target Mapping Specifications based on functional documents.
  • Manage the full transformation process from source to target, ensuring all steps are fully documented.
  • Work full-time within the Data Team, fully immersed in daily data tasks and collaboration.
Requirements
  • Expert-level SQL skills with the ability to write advanced queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Strong experience in data analysis, data relationship mapping, and data validation.
  • Proven ability to challenge and investigate functional requirements with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Azure SQL and Azure Data Lake, applying Data Lakehouse concepts to deliver scalable and efficient data solutions.
  • Experience producing clear outputs on data quality metrics and anomalies.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong attention to detail in both analysis and documentation.
  • Not a DBA or Data Engineer role – this is a full-time, analysis-focused data position.
