The Role: AI Solutions Architect

Role

This is a key leadership role within the Group AI team, responsible for providing the technical vision and architectural design for cutting-edge AI solutions across the global business. The AI Solution Architect will act as a bridge between strategic AI initiatives and technical implementation, ensuring all solutions encompassing machine learning, agentic systems, and generative AI are robust, scalable, and secure. This role is pivotal in establishing architectural patterns for the AI domain, guiding development teams on complex projects, and ensuring seamless integration into existing technology ecosystem.

Experience:

8+ years in IT, proven experience designing and implementing complex, enterprise-grade AI solutions. Candidate must demonstrate end-to-end lifecycle leadership (concept to iteration) and success in productionizing AI or Data-based projects for tangible business outcomes

Deep, hands-on understanding of machine learning, agentic systems, and generative AI. Practical knowledge of the AI landscape: architectural trade-offs (e.g., fine-tuned vs. RAG), mitigating hallucination, and technology selection for specific use cases.

Proven ability to define technical vision and strategy for new technology initiatives. Shape plans, create reusable architectural patterns and frameworks for other teams, establish technical standards, and guide towards a cohesive, modern AI technology stack.

Experience in a decentralized, multi-national organisation is a significant advantage. Navigate regional data maturities, legal/regulatory landscapes, and drive technical change through influence.

Experience with cloud-based AI platforms and services (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, Azure) is highly desirable. Hands-on GCP experience (Vertex AI, BigQuery, Cloud Run) is exceptionally valuable, aligning with our Google-centric strategy. Familiarity with other major clouds demonstrates broad architectural understanding.

Knowledge & skills:

Technical Expertise: Mastery of AI/ML architectural patterns and best practices , with a solid understanding of MLOps, CI/CD, and data pipeline integration.

Strategic Thinking: Ability to translate high-level business objectives into a robust and scalable technical vision.

Leadership & Mentoring: Strong ability to guide, influence, and upskill development teams, setting high standards for technical excellence.

 Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional ability to articulate complex AI concepts to diverse audiences, from engineers to senior business leaders.

Problem Solving: Proactive identification and resolution of complex technical challenges, including issues of scalability, security, and data integrity.

Business Acumen: A strong understanding of commercial drivers and the ability to design AI solutions that deliver measurable ROI.

Relevant Qualifications

Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related numerate field.

Professional certifications such as Google Cloud Professional Machine

Learning Engineer or Cloud Architect are highly desirable.
