About the Data Team

The role sits within the Data Directorate which comprises more than 30 data professionals working across CDP to deliver a series of innovative data products and data analytical services for internal and external stakeholders including Capital Markets, Cities, States and Regions and Supply Chain clients. Alongside the Data Governance, Data Engineering and Data Analytics teams, you will help develop and deliver exciting and impactful data solutions as well as champion thoughtful data design in our source systems.

Reporting into the Director of Data, in this role you will work closely with colleagues in data, product and engineering to facilitate a data ecosystem that will seamlessly support the needs of CDP and their customers. With an ability to take both a holistic view but also get into detailed requirements, you will help to guide multiple teams with the design and implementation of their data solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Build an enterprise-wide view of physical data models, data flows & transformations between them.
  • Implementation independent view of CDP’s data concepts to unify all physical implementations.
  • Build an enterprise data model.
  • Defining data architecture frameworks, standards and principles.
  • Establishing master data, source and target systems plus management.
  • Defining reference architecture to guide development of analytics solutions and source systems.
  • Collaborating and coordinating with multiple departments and stakeholders.
  • Translating business requirements into technical specifications including data streams, integrations, transformations, databases, data warehouses, data lakes and data lakehouses.
  • Work closely with the engineering teams to design source system data solutions supporting both system and data product needs.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure requirements are met in a smooth and efficient manner.

We would like to see the following skills and experience:

  • Strong aptitude for Data Modelling, Database & Data Platform Design.
  • Proficiency in creating logical & physical data models.
  • Knowledge of relational (SQL) and non-relational (NoSQL) database systems.
  • Understanding of ETL/ELT Processes.
  • Solid understanding of Data Integration & Architecture.
  • Experience with data integration.
  • Data warehousing concepts.
  • Data flow design.
  • Experience working with cloud computing on Azure or similar platforms.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of Data Governance & Data Management and their implementation.
  • Understanding of Data Quality techniques.
  • Proficient in SQL & Python.
  • Knowledge of BI & Analytics.
  • Familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI.
  • Able to design systems to support a data driven organisation.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with collaboration tools such as DevOps.
  • Ability to consider problems from both micro & macro levels plus across time to deliver solutions which are scalable, robust and flexible.
  • Critical thinking, problem solving and ability to work with large datasets.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to convey complex concepts to non-data experts in English.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to achieving high standards.
  • A passion for ‘designing for data’ and champion of its use.

This is a permanent, full-time role based out of the CDP office in London, reporting to the Director of Data.
