As a Software Engineer Lead within PNC's Technology - Data Products organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Strongsville, OH, Birmingham, AL or Dallas, TX. Position Overview


As a Software Engineer Lead you will be responsible for creating, governing, and maintaining a unified, metamodel used for data pipelines and repositories across our data products for Lines of Businesses (Retail Lending, Retail Deposits, Wholesale and Wealth Management) and for Enterprise Technology. This leader defines the standardized taxonomy and relationships that describe the bank's data entities /attributes for relevant data domains. Their work ensures consistency, enables interoperability, and enhances data discovery capabilities.


Some of the responsibilities of the role will include, but are not limited to:



  • Define and enforce standards, guidelines, and conventions for ontology and data modeling
  • Harmonize data models across domains and existing data repositories
  • Collaborate with lines of business to mature existing domain ontologies that align with the broader enterprise metamodel
  • Keep the organization up-to-date with industry developments and W3C standards (e.g., RDF, OWL) related to ontologies, semantics, and data modeling.

Ideal candidates will have:



  • Extensive experience designing, building, and maintaining ontologies, knowledge graphs, and semantic models (e.g., using OWL, RDF, RDFS, SHACL).
  • Proficiency with ontology engineering tools (e.g., Protégé, TopQuadrant) and graph databases (e.g., Neo4j, JanusGraph, RDF stores like Virtuoso or GraphDB).
  • Proven experience in designing and developing logical and conceptual data models for large-scale enterprise systems, particularly within complex environments.
  • Strong familiarity with common financial data domains (e.g., customer, accounts, products, transactions) and the complexities associated with them.

  • Facilitates complex problem resolution.
  • Provides technical guidance and support to colleagues. Reviews coding, testing, and documentation of software.
  • Applies modern principles, methodologies and tools to advance business initiatives and capabilities.

Base Salary: $55,000.00 – $158,700.00


Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business and/or individual performance.
