THE ROLE

This role is part of the Data Engineering Team, that is focused on maintaining and expanding our data platform that's responsible for ingesting and processing large amounts of geospatial data and generating valuable data insights for our customers.

This role reports into an Engineering Manager and works in a cross-functional development team that works closely with our analyst and application teams. You will support the team in developing our data ingestion, transform, machine learning and GenAI capabilities.

KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Delivering customer and business value, repeatedly and sustainably.
  • Driving excellence in code design, quality, understandability, testability, performance and security. 
  • Ensure data is ingested and ready for use in our products in a timely fashion while maintaining and improving data quality.
  • Work collaboratively within an agile environment and drive continuous improvement.
  • Be positive in the face of challenges and be willing to step outside your comfort zone to get things done.

EDUCATION BACKGROUND & TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL

  • Strong data engineering background, Python, SQL.
  • Proven experience in writing well-tested, clean code and a good understanding of how to build well-factored code with healthy abstractions.
  • Agile, automated, continuous integration + continuous deployment environment, git experience.
  • Experience working with cloud-based services, using infra as code.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving.


NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience or passion for working with geospatial data.
  • Knowledge of AWS Services.
  • Machine Learning and Gen AI experience.
  • SQL Performance & Optimisation.
  • Databricks/Spark Experience.
