Job Title: SharePoint Migration Specialist – Data Clean-Up

Location: Remote

Contract Type: Contract

Role Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced SharePoint Migration Specialist to support a critical data clean-up initiative as part of our SharePoint migration project. The successful candidate will be responsible for auditing, organising, and optimising legacy SharePoint environments with a focus on Archiving and Deletions, User Access Management, and Folder Structuring.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Archiving & Deletions

  • Conduct comprehensive audits of existing SharePoint sites to identify outdated, redundant, or obsolete content.

  • Develop and implement archiving strategies in line with organisational data retention policies.

  • Coordinate with stakeholders to validate deletion candidates and ensure safe removal of unnecessary data.

  1. User Access Management

  • Review and document current user access permissions across SharePoint sites and libraries.

  • Collaborate with IT Security and business units to define appropriate access levels.

  • Implement streamlined, role-based access controls and remove legacy or inactive users.

  1. Folder Structuring

  • Analyse existing folder structures for inefficiencies and inconsistencies.

  • Design and implement optimised folder hierarchies to improve usability and searchability.

  • Ensure alignment with metadata and tagging strategies to support future governance.

    Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in SharePoint Online and/or SharePoint 2013/2016/2019 migrations.

  • Strong understanding of SharePoint architecture, permissions, and content management.

  • Experience with data clean-up, archiving, and restructuring in enterprise environments.

  • Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for SharePoint administration tasks.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

    Desirable:

  • Experience with Microsoft Purview, Power Automate, or third-party migration tools (e.g., ShareGate, AvePoint).

  • Knowledge of data governance and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001).

  • Background in information architecture or records management.
