The role

Kin + Carta is looking to hire a Senior/Lead Google Cloud Engineer to join our growing team. If you are passionate about building valuable, innovative and inspiring cloud solutions with a desire to continually learn as part of a collaborative and supportive team, read on! We seek a Google Cloud engineer who will ensure that application and data teams have a solid platform on which to deploy their solutions, and provides a valuable contribution by building highly-available and robust infrastructure solutions.

What you can expect

  1. Work closely with internal and customer teams to implement robust solutions on Google Cloud.
  2. Deploy Google Cloud services using reusable infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform.
  3. Provide consultancy to clients on their Google Cloud engineering practices, contributing to workshops as necessary.
  4. Work across a variety of projects, such as:
  5. Greenfield Google Cloud foundations and landing zone builds.
  6. Workload migration from on-premise and other clouds.
  7. Modern data and AI platform and application builds alongside data engineering SMEs.
  8. Collaborate with development teams in the software development and release processes to Google Cloud, consulting on or constructing CI/CD pipelines, promoting Google Cloud usage and assisting with proof of concepts of new cloud services.
  9. Produce high quality documentation as part of your solution development.
  10. Assist Kin + Carta’s Google Cloud partnership team in developing our capabilities and services portfolio.
  11. Be an advocate for Google Cloud amongst colleagues, providing a valuable contribution to the internal Google Cloud community.

The type of person we’d like to meet

  1. 2 years of experience with core Google Cloud services, such as IAM, networking, security and operations.
  2. Solid understanding and experience building systems using Google Cloud’s compute services, such as Compute Engine, and serverless platforms like Cloud Run and App Engine.
  3. Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools, such as Terraform, and a clear understanding of infrastructure pipeline concepts.
  4. Experience implementing Google Cloud database solutions, such as Cloud SQL, Spanner or AlloyDB.
  5. Google Cloud technical certification, such as the Associate Cloud Engineer Certification, Professional Cloud Developer or Professional Cloud Architect.
  6. Committed to integrating security best practices in daily tasks and projects.
  7. Excels in dynamic technical landscapes and swiftly adapts to deliver effectively in new environments.
  8. Skilled in collaborative projects with distributed teams, and working with agile methodologies such as Scrum.
  9. Excellent communication skills, with excellent spoken and written English.
  10. Willingness to stay updated on key Google Cloud technologies and innovations.
  11. Internal drive to learn, improve and succeed.

Nice to have

  1. Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration with Kubernetes.
  2. Familiarity with Google Cloud data technologies (e.g. BigQuery, Dataflow).
  3. Familiarity with Google Cloud’s wider portfolio, such as Vertex AI and CCAI.
  4. Experience designing and implementing multi-cloud solutions.
  5. Additional certifications in AWS or Azure.
  6. Knowledge of general programming languages, such as Java and Python.

The interview process at Kin + Carta

Here’s what to expect from the interview process at Kin + Carta:

  1. Intro Call with the Talent Team (30 mins)– If your skills and experience match the role requirements, our Talent team will contact you to arrange a call. The aim of this call is to get to know you and for you to find out more about Kin + Carta. This call can be held either by telephone or Zoom. After this call, if we feel like you are a good match for the role, you’ll be invited to a first-stage interview.
  2. First-Stage Interview (30 minutes)- This will typically be a Q&A style interview, lasting approximately 30 minutes. This process is designed to help our team find out about your skills and experience but also what you enjoy and what motivates you. It’s a great opportunity for you to ask our team questions and learn more about us! If you are successful in the first stage interview, you will progress to the next stage of our interview process.
  3. Second-Stage Interview (60 minutes)- This interview will consist of a pair-programming style technical interview that you will be given the brief to in advance to allow you to prepare. It’s a chance for our team to see how you apply your skills and experience and assess how that matches our expectations for the role. It’s also a chance for you to meet more of our Kin (that’s what we call our colleagues here at Kin + Carta).
  4. Making a Decision- Following the interview process, our hiring team will get together to discuss feedback and make a final decision. We aim to get back to you as soon as we possibly can!

Our average recruitment process takes aroundfour weeks. You will be assigned a dedicated member of our Talent team to support you throughout the process.
