Are you ready to make a significant impact at Thames Water? We have an incredible opportunity for a Senior Transformation Business Partner to join our team and drive our ambitious AMP8 (Apply online only)) business plan. This plan represents our largest investment programme ever, designed to benefit customers and the environment. It includes strategies to drive improved performance and operational efficiency, rapidly scale our capital investment deployment capability, navigate the regulatory framework, enhance end-to-end business planning, and enable digital transformation.

To support our ambitious goals, we've established a Transformation Office to provide strategic coordination and support to business teams, support proactive interventions, and act as a second line of assurance.

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Transformation Business Partner to work across three critical components of our Transformation Plan:

Key Areas of Focus

Digital Enablement: the delivery of a new Digital Operating Model to improve Digital Maturity by enhancing our ways of working, uplifting digital capabilities, and managing the legacy technology estate – becoming more business-centric, scalable, and accountable.

Asset Data: the development of a comprehensive asset data management system to consolidate information and enhance data-driven decision-making, implementing a data ownership model to ensure clear accountability and improve data quality for better regulatory outcomes.

Systems Planning: the development of a 25-year actionable plan (multiple five-year Asset Management Plans) for all geographic regions across the Water and Wastewater assets. Plans take into account key issues and risks unique to those regions and develop solutions to reinforce asset resilience and meet future requirements, including climate change, forming the basis of future price reviews with stakeholders. What you will be doing as Senior Transformation Business Partner

Stakeholder Management: Engage with business teams at all levels, acting as a critical friend and providing a second line of assurance. Ensure transparency on progress, issues, and risks.

Cross-Functional Facilitation: Collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups to drive successful outcomes including bridging across functions to support problem-solving, unblock issues, and assist in managing escalations (which may include requests for third-party support).

Thought Leadership: Provide constructive challenge and scrutiny, collaborating with business teams to create effective solutions. Leverage your expertise to support successful delivery and governance controls.

Dependency Management: Identify, manage, and broker resolutions for cross-functional dependencies and risks with other aspects of the Transformation Plan and/or wider business. Ensure escalations are appropriately managed for resolution.

Progress Tracking: Ensure consistency in workstream status reporting and prepare relevant materials for overarching Transformation Plan monthly business reviews with the Executive Team. What you should bring to the role

Experience: Broad and comprehensive large-scale transformation experience across multiple disciplines, with a proven track record of operating in a cross-functional environment. Your subject matter expertise and ability to influence and add value will be a significant asset.

Motivation and Credibility: High motivation and personal credibility to build relationships and trust with senior leaders. Navigate ambiguity and challenges with authority and resilience.

Problem-Solving Skills: Advanced analytical skills combined with the ability to facilitate cross-functional collaboration and unblock issues. Your judgment and creativity will be key to developing effective solutions.

Flexibility and Resilience: Ability to deal with changes, challenges, and setbacks while maintaining a positive mindset. Your adaptability will help you thrive in a dynamic environment. What’s in it for you

Impact: Play a key role in a company transformation of national importance. Your contributions will directly benefit our customers and the environment.
Growth: Opportunity to work on high-impact workstreams and develop your career. You'll be part of a Transformation Office team that values continuous learning, development and adaptation.
Culture: Be part of a collaborative and supportive team. We foster a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and excellence both within the Transformation Office and the broader business.

Pre-Employment Checks for Data Science Jobs: DBS, References & Right-to-Work and more Explained

Pre-employment screening in data science reflects the discipline's unique position at the intersection of statistical analysis, machine learning innovation, and strategic business intelligence. Data scientists often have privileged access to comprehensive datasets, proprietary algorithms, and business-critical insights that form the foundation of organisational strategy and competitive positioning. The data science industry operates within complex regulatory frameworks spanning GDPR, sector-specific data protection requirements, and emerging AI governance regulations. Data scientists must demonstrate not only technical competence in statistical modelling and machine learning but also deep understanding of research ethics, data privacy principles, and the societal implications of algorithmic decision-making. Modern data science roles frequently involve analysing personally identifiable information, financial data, healthcare records, and sensitive business intelligence across multiple jurisdictions and regulatory frameworks simultaneously. The combination of analytical privilege, predictive capabilities, and strategic influence makes thorough candidate verification essential for maintaining compliance, security, and public trust in data-driven insights and automated systems.
