Role Purpose

Establishing resilient, sustainable, and reliable portfolios is critical for energy companies navigating the energy transition. We aim to be the partner of choice by offering world-class products and services. Our Subsurface Research team delivers integrated research, data analysis, and industry-leading thought leadership across the geo-energy landscape, enabling faster and more effective decision-making.

Reporting to our Subsurface Leadership, we seek an experienced, motivated, innovative Senior Analyst to drive our subsurface analytics agenda, including AI applications, to provide advanced workflow solutions and insights that support better investment decisions in the energy transition.

Main Responsibilities

  • Shape and lead the subsurface analytics agenda
  • Collaborate on synoptic initiatives across Wood Mackenzie
  • Drive data and workflow analytics within the subsurface team and build data science capabilities in the CoE
  • Support and generate revenue through AI-driven solutions
  • Build relationships with customers to understand their needs and develop our offerings
  • Create impactful, thought-provoking written content
  • Support the vision and development of geo-energy products and services
  • Demonstrate core values of teamwork, respect, integrity, fairness, and diversity

About You

You are passionate about the energy sector, understand subsurface data, and are excited about AI's potential in upstream energy. You can analyze data, communicate complex ideas clearly, and thrive in collaborative, client-focused environments. You have a proven ability to build relationships, influence, and foster a high-performing team environment. You value diversity and cultural appreciation in a global context.

Qualifications and Capabilities

  • BSc in Geoscience or Reservoir Engineering, plus a postgraduate data science degree or equivalent experience
  • 5-10 years of relevant energy sector experience, preferably upstream
  • Expertise in data analytics and current technology applications
  • Knowledge of the global energy transition
  • Experience in relationship management
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Curiosity and a record of impactful innovation

Expectations

  • This is a hybrid role requiring presence in the office at least 2 days/week; full remote is not available
  • Flexible working hours may be necessary to accommodate global teams
