Everyone belongs at OVO

At OVO, we are on a mission to solve one of humanity's biggest challenges, the climate crisis. And we know it takes all of us to change the world. That's why we need diverse people from all abilities, gender identities, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientations, life experiences and backgrounds to join us.

Teamworking for the planet

Everything we do here spins around Plan Zero. So, naturally, the team you’ll be joining plays a gigantic role in making that happen. Here’s how:

We’re hiring world-changers. The Regulation team plays a critical role in understanding and influencing the boundaries within which we operate, ensuring we are able to affect and adapt to industry change. The Regulatory Reporting team is responsible for providing accurate reporting to our regulator and using that data to provide insight to the rest of the business. Our clear focus is to enable OVO to drive progress and support customers on our Zero Carbon journey.

This role in a nutshell:

You will lead OVO’s small but important regulatory reporting and data insight unit, ensuring that OVO meets its regulated reporting obligations through the development, delivery and maintenance of a wide suite of reporting capabilities. You’ll work with colleagues from across the business to deliver robust and accurate data sets for submission to external stakeholders such as Ofgem and government, while also building out key value-add insights to support business decision making through the surfacing of key risks and opportunities.

Your key outcomes will be:

  • Coordinating and managing the Regulatory Reporting workload between yourself and a supporting analyst, delivering a strategic agenda that contributes to our team and business objectives.
  • Owning the coordination and submission of core regulatory data reports to external bodies such as Ofgem, DESNZ and Citizens Advice, including creation, maintenance and robust validation of data sets to ensure a high level of accuracy.
  • Continuous review of reporting sources to ensure robust and accurate data, aligning with Ofgem’s Market Data requirements and internal best practice.
  • Lead on developing and providing insight to support business awareness and decision making, including the creation and maintenance of business facing regulatory insight dashboards that provide a “regulator’s view” of OVO to senior stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain positive relationships with external regulatory bodies.
  • Provide analytical support to other business units, such as Regulatory Schemes (ECO, Warm Home Discount and Feed-in-Tariff) and operational teams.
  • Managing compliance with internal governance processes to ensure submissions are appropriately reviewed and approved by the right stakeholders prior to submission.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the business to provide commentary to regulators and external stakeholders on trends and anomalies within submissions as necessary.
  • Analyse and distill complex datasets, communicating key findings to senior stakeholders to ensure awareness of key areas of regulatory risk and opportunity.

You’ll be a successful Senior Regulatory Data Analyst at OVO if you…

  • Have 2+years experience in a similar data or analytical role, with an in-depth knowledge of key data analysis tools such as BigQuery, Dataform, SQL, GitHub, and advanced MS Excel / Google Sheets abilities
  • Are highly numerate and analytical with an ability to delve into the details while also understanding the strategic view
  • Have good data visualisation skills, using tools such as Looker Studio, Tableau and Thoughtspot (or similar software) to provide meaningful and insightful data representations
  • Have strong organisational and time management skills, allowing you to be comfortable working to challenging external deadlines, with the ability to handle multiple workstreams at the same time
  • Have exceptional attention to detail and high data validation standards - accurate and timely submissions are a key obligation of OVO’s licence to supply energy
  • Have excellent presentation and communication skills, being able to clearly articulate complex data trends and insights to stakeholders of all levels
  • Are a good relationship builder, comfortable working collaboratively in cross-organisational teams to deliver complex data requests from Ofgem and other external stakeholders
  • Are a great team player and self-starter comfortable working both autonomously and with colleagues to deliver team and business objectives
  • Experience in people and team management is desirable, and a foundational understanding of the energy sector would be beneficial
