We carry out work across the world, at the intersection of the mega-trends that are shaping our future, such as decarbonisation and digitalisation, the rise of renewables, and new technologies such as the electrification of heat and transport and use of hydrogen/CCS.

We are strengthening our growing transactions service line and are looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Principal to be part of our interdisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with a track record in transactions who is interested in playing a crucial role in advising clients in energy and infrastructure sectors.

In this role, you will have an exciting opportunity to provide your leadership to the energy transition by supporting private and public organisations in making challenging yet fair and sustainable investment decisions that will accelerate their response to climate change.

As a leader, you will grow and shape the business, expand our global strategy and specifically our Transactions service line, and develop our talent. You will be responsible for strengthening long-term client relationships, maximising current and future engagement profitability, and contributing to our business development strategy.

You should have had previous roles, leading teams in the execution of large-scale due diligence projects in energy and infrastructure sectors which is a key element of this role. As well as managing and directing complex quantitative and qualitative analyses and leading subject workstreams comprising of other consultants and subject matter experts. You will thrive in this role if you build long term and trust-based relationships with clients.

We are looking for someone who will help to further develop the Transaction service offering by supporting the growth of the team through coaching our consultants as well as contributing to the development of our offerings and tools.

We are looking for great people to join our team of energy market consultants based in Oxford or London, which also supports our wider network of over 20 offices on five continents.

Our Senior Principals are confident and enthusiastic leaders. We expect you to have the following experience (but we don’t expect anyone to tick every box):

  • Leading client engagements in complex due diligence projects relating to and with an established reputation and network in energy especially in networks and regulatory environments and infrastructure sectors like water, ports and terminals, and/or waste industry.
  • Guiding internal teams to deliver effective engagement planning and high-quality results for our clients while nurturing strong, positive, and long-lasting relationships in our internal team and with our clients.
  • Managing long-term client relationships of a M&A, investment fund, private equity, investment banking, corporate development, investment advisory from origination through (repeated) delivery including identifying opportunities, proposal response, budget planning, negotiating terms, closing sales, tracking and optimising engagement profitability, and managing engagement risk.
  • Designing, creating, writing, and editing clear and engaging proposals, presentations and reports in Word and PowerPoint that demonstrate a high level of visual and written skill as a communicator.
  • Championing knowledge management and the ‘circular knowledge economy’ by supporting and improving the way we and our clients capture, re-use and repurpose our knowledge assets.
  • Using your relationships, knowledge and understanding of energy and infrastructure transaction dynamics in the region to support the growth of M&A / transaction services alongside senior colleagues e.g. through sales and business development.

For individuals looking for international experience, there may be opportunities to lead projects in other regions of the world.

We undertake a lot of complex analysis, a good proportion of which is numerical, so we are looking for people with an aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis which could be indicated via a MSc or equivalent, MBA, PhD in a technical or financial or economic field. Further qualifications like CFA are advantageous.
