Data Platform Engineer (Fully Remote) VANRATH is delighted to be working with a leading global payments organisation to recruit an experienced Data Platform Engineer. This fully remote role offers a unique opportunity to help establish and shape a Data Analytics Platform function, designing and implementing modern data capabilities that will underpin the company's ambitious growth and strategic initiatives. This role is ideal for a cloud-savvy engineer with strong expertise in deploying, scaling, and maintaining highly available data applications - and who enjoys working collaboratively across DevOps, Data Engineering, and Infrastructure teams. The Opportunity You will play a key role in building a centralised, resilient data platform - designing cloud infrastructure, automating deployments, integrating modern data tools, and ensuring high performance, stability, and security. Working alongside a supportive, outcome-driven team, you'll have the freedom to innovate, influence platform standards, and drive continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain scalable cloud-based data platform infrastructure (AWS or Azure) Deploy and manage modern data platform tools (e.g., dbt Core, Airflow, Airbyte, Snowflake) Collaborate cross-functionally with DevOps, Data Engineering, Infrastructure, and InfoSec teams Automate infrastructure and deployments using IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) Implement CI/CD pipelines to support deployment across multiple environments Monitor, optimise, and maintain platform performance, reliability, and security Plan and manage platform upgrades and ensure system stability Establish monitoring and uptime controls to maintain operational continuity Conduct security assessments and implement platform safeguards Troubleshoot and resolve platform-related issues Stay informed of emerging technologies to drive platform enhancements Align platform capabilities with evolving business requirements Ideal Candidate Profile Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline Proven experience as a Data Platform Engineer (or similar role) Hands-on experience deploying highly available cloud services (AWS or Azure) Proficiency with IaC tools: Terraform, CloudFormation (or Bicep) Experience with cloud database technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift) Familiarity with Linux and containerisation (Docker) Exposure to data platform/data science tooling (dbt, Airflow, etc.) Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols Experience working within Agile environments Strong problem-solving skills, proactive mindset, and logical thinking Excellent collaboration, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills What's on offer? ?
