Our flagship campus is in Sydney, Australia, but we also have an office in London. You have choice in where and how you work; we trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA. This role is focused on:

  • Leading the development of end-to-end pipelines for training, evaluating, and deploying ML models to solve problems related to data visualisation workflows.
  • Experimenting with and evaluating the effectiveness of open-source and third-party models for Canva’s needs in the data visualisation space.
  • Working alongside data visualisation experts to identify opportunities for applying ML models to high-impact business opportunities.
  • Developing performant data pipelines that provide AI model training and evaluation workflows with access to compliant data assets.
  • Collaborating with product, design, backend, and frontend engineers to design product features that improve user engagement with data.

You're probably a match if

  • You bring at least 5+ years of industry experience building machine learning applications in a software engineering role, using industry-standard technologies (Python, SQL, PyTorch/Tensorflow, Kubernetes/Docker).
  • You have experience in building and deploying machine learning models to distributed production environments.
  • You have experience developing robust evaluation methodologies for complex problem domains.
  • You possess strong research synthesis skills, able to translate deep learning literature into products.
  • You have experience optimizing SoTA computer vision and/or natural language processing models for high-performance settings.
