About the Role

We are seeking an experienced medical statistician with expertise in the design and conduct of clinical trials and in particular, to provide statistical oversight and analysis of the TRANSFORM prostate cancer screening trial. This national trial jointly funded by Prostate Cancer Research UK and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) will provide evidence for the UK National Screening Committee, policy makers and the international cancer research community by evaluating promising new screening regimes. The post-holder will work collaboratively with our cross-institutional team throughout the trial research life-cycle from planning and set up through to conduct, analysis, dissemination and reporting in impactful publications in high-ranking journals. This permanent appointment provides an excellent opportunity for an interested and motivated statistician to further develop their academic career through cancer screening, prevention and early diagnosis research aimed at improving and saving lives.

About You

You will have a PhD in medical statistics or related area, or equivalent professional experience, a proven track-record of high-quality research at a national and ideally international level, and experience of developing, securing and managing research grants. Experience is essential in the design and analysis of clinical trials, teaching and assessment at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, mentoring and developing staff and PhD students.

The Wolfson Institute of Population Health harnesses expertise across a wide range of population-based research and education activities and aims to be an internationally recognised centre of excellence in population health, primary care and preventive medicine. The post-holder will work in at the Centre for Evaluation and Methods.
