Senior Investment Stewardship Manager / Investment Stewardship Analyst

Our client is seeking a dedicated and results-oriented climate and nature expert for the position of Senior Investment Stewardship Manager/ Investment Stewardship Analyst - Nature in the Environmental team, which is part of the Active Ownership department.
The Role
In this role, you will develop, support and conduct company engagements on environmental topics, with a focus on nature, and contribute to NBIM’s broader stewardship efforts. The role offers the right person an opportunity to engage with company boards and senior management on environmental topics on behalf of a fund that owns on average 1.4% of all listed companies globally. You will be a key resource on nature for the fund, providing expertise to internal portfolio managers and other stakeholders across the company. Alongside colleagues from the Active Ownership department, you will help develop the fund’s ownership positions and practices. Individuals with a strong business or investment experience and subject matter expertise within nature and climate change issues are encouraged to apply.
The position is located in London, with the option of Oslo for the right applicant, and will report to the Head of the Environmental team. Some travel is required.
What you need

  • Engaging with company boards and management on nature and climate-related business risks and opportunities
  • Providing expertise as an internal resource on nature to stakeholders across NBIM
  • Performing qualitative and quantitative analyses of companies’ risk exposure, management and performance when it comes to environmental topics
  • Further developing NBIM’s policies and practices on nature-related active ownership activities, including their expectations of companies and proxy voting activities
  • Engaging with standard setters, peer investors and other external stakeholders on nature-related issues
  • Contribute to external communication efforts on responsible investment and ESG integration in the investment processes
  • Contributing to a collaborative, dedicated and high-performing team

    Please note this is a full-time position, you will need to be able to work full time to be considered for this role.
    Skills and Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in finance, economics, environmental sciences or other relevant field with strong academic records
  • Expertise in nature-related issues
  • Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience working with corporate sustainability analysis or management from a corporate, investment manager, research provider or similar.
  • Track record of impactful corporate engagement on nature and climate, and experience with investor engagement initiatives
  • In-depth knowledge of international standards, reporting frameworks and ongoing regulatory developments on nature-related issues
  • Good understanding of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues and their impact on investment and ownership decision making.
