Job description - the role

AMS is the world's leading provider of Talent Acquisition and Management Services. Our contingent Workforce Solutions (CWS) service acts as an extension of our clients' recruitment team and provides professional interim and temporary resources. We partner with Arup to support contingent recruitment processes. On behalf of Arup, we are looking for a Senior Geospatial Specialist for a 12-month contract based in London, Leeds or Bristol.

The role will require experience and understanding of major project delivery and the challenges of spatial data delivery on projects of all scales.

A key role requirement will be managing data and access to information for project team members and ensuring the client receives asset and spatial data in the correct format and structure per their requirements. The position will be part of the Digital Services team, with potential future opportunities to work in many other aspects across the wider business.

Candidate Profile: Key accountabilities, skills & experience

Role

The right fit for our team is an experienced Geospatial Specialist with digital leadership experience who will engage with a broad range of subject matter experts and clients, whilst leading a small team of digital practitioners. The role will require the creation and management of design efficient and automated workflows using industry standard as well as other available tools. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, an excellent problem solver, a fast-self-learner able to adapt to new technologies and platforms, and able to present complex digital challenges to people of other backgrounds.

In addition, the role will include:

Lead the development and implementation of geospatial web delivery
Design, execute and publish maps & technical reports for a range of projects
Create, customise, test and implement scripts to streamline geospatial workflows
Oversee resourcing of projects and utilisation of staff
Maintain an environment that promotes quality and excellence

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

Project Leadership: Manage and deliver geospatial projects, ensuring they meet client requirements and industry standards and are completed on time and within budget.
Collaboration: Collaborate with experts across multiple domains to identify and study data sets, produce visuals and empower Arup and its clients to make better decisions At the project and regional team levels, actively practice and support ongoing improvements to our geospatial solution development
Client Interaction: Engage with clients to understand their needs, provide expert advice, and develop bespoke geospatial and digital solutions.
Technical Software: Strong experience with Esri ArcGIS Pro and Esri ArcGIS Enterprise, Microsoft SQL. Demonstrable experience of Power Automate, PowerBI, FME (Form and Flow), Python.
Advanced Spatial Analysis: Conduct sophisticated spatial analyses and modelling
Data Management: Oversee the management and analysis of large geospatial datasets, ensuring data quality and integrity.
Technical Expertise: Utilise advanced GIS techniques and tools to address complex spatial challenges.
Team Mentorship: Mentor and support early career team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative working environment.
Reporting and Documentation: Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and documentation for clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Masters qualified in engineering or scientific subject related to civil infrastructure or equivalent experience
Ideally a Chartered Geographer (GIS) or equivalent professional level

Desirable skills and knowledge:

Knowledge and demonstrable experience of Power Automate, PowerBI, FME, Form and Flow.
Understanding of ISO19650 suite of information management process and quality assurance procedures.
Experience working on large multidisciplinary projects and/or with infrastructure clientsAbout the client
