Amazon Freight Europe is seeking a highly analytical and resourceful Senior Finance Analyst to join the Finance Strategy & Expansion team to externalise the freight business, designing and delivering a world class freight experience for our customers. We are continuously innovating on behalf of Amazon customers to deliver larger selection quicker and at lower prices. In this role, you will drive profitability and customer experience by directly influencing the development, planning, and execution of our transportation network.


The role will require quickly learning operations to grasp the big picture in order to develop financial metrics. As part of this you will need to communicate clearly and succinctly with business leaders to influence decisions with data, working across Europe and North America you will partner closely with Product, Program, Operations, and Commercial leaders to define the expansion strategy, proactively solving the challenges and opportunities that this creates.


In this impactful role, you will lead the long-term financial planning of Amazon Freight, collaborating with business stakeholders to shape strategies and investments for success. Your responsibilities will involve evaluating the merits of each investment, expansion initiative, and product offering to optimise profitability. Your insights and analyses will directly influence senior management decisions, guiding our path towards sustainable growth as we continue to rapidly scale.


You are a person who enjoys operating in a dynamic, fast changing environment. You are able to process complex and, at times, ambiguous data, identifying and addressing key risks and helping operations to develop efficient customer centric solutions. You thrive in an ambiguous environment and are comfortable to educate your business partners to succeed in this space.


To succeed, you will need to quickly familiarise yourself with operations, gaining a holistic understanding of our business. Your ability to communicate effectively, delivering clear and succinct messages, will be indispensable as you engage with key stakeholders to shape strategic decisions. Your willingness to respectfully challenge your stakeholders, backed by compelling data-driven arguments, will ensure that decisions are anchored in sound judgment and aligned with our overarching goals.


Key job responsibilities

This position requires a broad set of skills to be successful, that range from high level strategic thinking to deep-dive analytical problem solving. Specifically:

  1. Collaborate and influence senior business partners to support tactical and strategic business decisions;
  2. Draft and present key documents to leadership, taking an idea from inception to implementation;
  3. Dive deep into the processes and cost drivers to enhance operating productivity;

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics or business, or a Bachelor's degree and experience in quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance)
  • Experience in tax, finance or a related analytical field
  • Experience applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses
  • Experience in creating process improvements with automation and analysis
  • Experience in identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize or simplify finance or business tools and processes


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA, or CPA
  • Experience participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
