Senior Data Scientist (Contract)
Location: Greater Manchester (Hybrid - 3 days on-site, 2 days WFH)
Contract Length: 6-12 months
Day Rate: £500 per day (Dependant on experience)
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join a high-impact team within a fast-paced, data-driven organization. This contract role offers the opportunity to apply your deep technical expertise and leadership skills to a variety of exciting data science projects across different business functions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver valuable insights and drive business transformation using data science.
As a Senior Data Scientist, you'll be expected to take ownership of end-to-end projects, working with large datasets, building predictive models, and applying advanced analytical techniques to solve complex business problems. The role requires someone who is comfortable with ambiguity and can deliver solutions that directly support key strategic business decisions.
Key Responsibilities


Lead and deliver end-to-end data science projects, from initial exploration to deployment and monitoring.
Work with stakeholders across different business functions (e.g., operations, finance, product, etc.) to understand key challenges and provide data-driven solutions.
Develop, test, and implement machine learning models such as regression, classification, and time series forecasting.
Conduct deep analysis on large datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
Collaborate with technical and non-technical teams to translate data science solutions into practical business applications.
Build and maintain data pipelines, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate findings effectively.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior data science team members.


What We're Looking For
Essential Skills


Python: Advanced proficiency in data manipulation, machine learning, and data science libraries (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, etc.).
SQL: Strong skills in querying large datasets and optimizing performance for analysis.
Machine Learning: Proven hands-on experience with various techniques including regression, classification, clustering, and time series forecasting.
Data Pipelines: Experience in building and maintaining efficient data pipelines to support data science initiatives.
Data Visualization: Expertise in using visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or matplotlib) to present complex data insights.
End-to-End Project Delivery: Proven experience taking a data science project from concept to deployment, including model evaluation and ongoing monitoring.


Desirable Skills


Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure (e.g., Azure ML, Data Factory).
Experience in big data environments and distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Spark).
Knowledge of business intelligence tools and their integration with data science workflows.
Prior experience mentoring or leading a team of data scientists.
