Our Team:

Bloomberg runs on data, and in the Data team, we're responsible for acquiring and providing key regulatory data to our clients. We collect, analyze, process, and publish the data which is the backbone of our iconic Bloomberg Terminal - the facts and figures which ultimately move the financial markets. Reference data for regulatory reporting plays an ever-increasing role in our clients’ workflows, and the Data team fulfills an important function in supporting Bloomberg users with regulatory change. We analyze regulation, determine the reference data needs, and make this data available on the Terminal in order to support the regulatory reporting needs of our clients. We are the cornerstone of several of Bloomberg’s regulatory solutions.
What’s the role?

As Data Engineer, you would take on the more exciting aspects of our data product, from data engineering to business analytics, using different tools. Bloomberg Data Engineers possess an outstanding combination of technical, interpersonal, and communication skills, which they apply to spot gaps and find improvement opportunities in our product’s technologies. They are seen as technical leaders across the organization. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who's passionate about building workflows and analyzing data. You will apply your problem-solving skills to handle the database, pipelines, automation processes, and workflows that feed our products. In addition to that, you will analyze our data using business intelligence tools to get the best insights out of it. You will be encouraged to lead projects, collaborate with different partners, and mentor junior members of the group who are looking to develop technically.
We'll Trust You To:

Develop, scale, and maintain the data pipelines and processes that interact with our structured products and corporate bond databases
Collaborate with a wide variety of external partners and internal departments including Engineering, Product, and Sales on strategic product development and execution
Use statistics and data visualization to generate insights about ongoing operations and projects and communicate the results effectively
Incorporate machine learning and statistics to detect anomalies and drive quality improvement in areas such as accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability
Ensure all non-financial risks associated with regulatory data being captured and supervised are minimized, and the appropriate mitigating actions and controls are correctly implemented
Experience in using technology to solve problems and optimize current processes in areas such as data quality, data acquisition, operations, reliability, and content alongside domain experts and technical account managers
You’ll Need to Have:

4+ years of Python programming and scripting in a production environment
4+ years of experience working with databases either SQL or NoSQL
Understanding of Machine Learning, applied statistics, and data analytics
Understanding and experience of large-scale, distributed systems
Strong problem-solving skills, particularly to modify and improve processes and workflows
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain technical processes and solutions to business partners and management
High attention to detail and degree of shown decision-making and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently as well as in a distributed team environment and influence others and lead change

Interest in Financial Regulation
Interest in mark-up languages (XML, JSON, and/or HTML)
Experience using data analysis and visualization tools such as Tableau or QlikSense
