Senior Data Governance Manager (Contract - SC Cleared)

Location: Glasgow

Rate: 650-700 per day (Inside IR35)

Contract Length: 6 months

Security Clearance: SC Cleared (essential)

Start: ASAP

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Governance Manager to lead and strengthen enterprise data governance capability within a complex, regulated environment. This role will act as a senior authority on governance policy, data quality, and Microsoft Purview, supporting both strategic direction and hands-on delivery.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation, maintenance, and evolution of data management and data governance policies, controls, processes, and standards
  • Own and drive data quality metrics, monitoring, and reporting, ensuring measurable improvements
  • Act as the Microsoft Purview subject matter expert, supporting the data governance team and associated data roles
  • Provide governance oversight across data domains, ensuring alignment with organisational and regulatory requirements
  • Engage with senior stakeholders to embed governance principles and improve data maturity
  • Support governance forums, decision-making, and assurance activities


Essential Skills & Experience (Lead Criteria)

  • Strong background in designing and maintaining data management and data governance frameworks, including policies, controls, processes, and standards
  • Strong understanding of data quality metrics, controls, and reporting
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview, with the ability to act as the Purview expert and advisor
  • Proven experience operating at senior manager level within large or regulated organisations
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills


Nice to Have

  • Experience in public sector or highly regulated environments
  • Knowledge of data ownership, stewardship models, and enterprise data operating models

This role is suited to a senior governance professional who can combine strategic leadership with practical expertise, particularly around data quality and Microsoft Purview.
