Summary

As a Data Governance Senior Analyst, you will play a key role in maintaining our data governance framework across the organization. You will collaborate with data owners and stewards to launch and maintain data domains, ensure data quality, and establish comprehensive master data management (MDM) practices. Your responsibilities will include defining quality metrics, supporting metadata management, and ensuring compliance with data governance best practices.

Additionally, you will contribute to documentation, training, and project management in line with the global PMO framework. Working closely with teams such as Systems Integration, Reporting, Data Engineering, AI and PMO, you will support Agile processes in Azure DevOps and foster cross-functional collaboration to achieve the organization’s data governance objectives.

Core Responsibilities

Data Domains: Support the launch of new data domains, engaging with data owners and successfully building momentum with data stewards. Data Governance Communities: Collaborate with global business stakeholders to adopt our data governance data disciplines (i.e. define master and reference data definitions, data quality improvement, access management, etc.). Master Data Management (MDM): Oversee the establishment of complete, consistent, current, and authoritative master and reference data across all processes and launched data domains. Quality Metrics: Define key performance indicators for quality and compliance metrics. Metadata: Support the implementation and continuous improvement of a data catalog solution. Scorecard: Ensure adherence to IT & Digital guidelines, maintaining a data governance scorecard. Documentation and Training: Support the development and maintenance of data governance standard operating procedures, work instructions, training guides, etc. Project Management: Adhere to the global PMO framework to drive our change management processes. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with other key teams such as Data & Analytics, Global PMO, and IT to achieve common objectives. Azure DevOps: Support our Agile workstream, participating on sprint planning, sprint review, retrospective, and report progress and risks to Line Manager.

Desired Knowledge

Interest in the Energy Sector: Demonstrates a strong interest in the energy industry, with a focus on renewables and the energy transition. Project Management Skills: Experienced in managing projects across their lifecycle, including scope definition, resource allocation, and timeline adherence, with good understanding of both Agile and Waterfall methodologies. Clear Communication Skills: Effectively communicates complex data governance concepts and can provide clear guidance or training to teams when needed. Data Governance Expertise: Has a solid understanding of data governance frameworks and best practices, with hands-on experience. Data Security Awareness: Possesses sound knowledge of data security principles and ethical data management practices, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Desired Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. An advanced degree in data management, information systems, or business analytics is preferred. Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data governance concepts to various stakeholders (technical and business teams). Strong experience in data management, including data governance, data privacy, data quality. Hands-on experience with the full life-cycle of Master Data Management (MDM). Proficient with at least one MDM tool. Experience with data architecture, governance, security, and metadata management. Experience working in agile environments and using CI/CD tools like Azure DevOps. Good understanding of GDPR, Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), and other privacy regulations. Experience handling sensitive data in compliance with privacy laws.

Desired Experience

Data Governance Implementation: Proven experience in implementing data governance frameworks within an organization. Track record of improving data quality, integrity, and compliance through established governance processes. Collaboration Across Teams: Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams (IT, business units, compliance, etc.) to drive data governance initiatives and ensure alignment with business goals. Project and Stakeholder Management: Experience managing data governance projects from start to finish, including scope definition, resource management, and timeline adherence. Ability to engage with stakeholders to communicate data governance goals and ensure buy-in. Master Data Management (MDM): Hands-on experience with the full life cycle of MDM, including defining and managing master data, data standards, and metadata to support key business processes. Data Quality Management: Experience in establishing data quality standards and processes, including data validation, cleansing, and enrichment, to ensure data accuracy and consistency across systems. Data Privacy and Compliance: Significant experience ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) through risk assessments, data protection measures, and data audits. Data Tools and Technologies: Practical experience with data governance tools such as Boomi, Alation, Collibra, Informatica. Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., PowerBI) is a plus. Consulting experience is a plus.

What challenges can you expect in this role?

Balancing Business Priorities with Data Governance: Aligning data governance practices with the evolving needs of business units can be challenging (i.e. global vs local needs). You’ll be expected to find solutions that balance governance requirements with business agility and innovation. Driving Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Achieving successful data governance requires working closely with stakeholders across departments (e.g., IT, Legal, Operations). Navigating competing priorities and fostering alignment can be difficult. Change Management: Implementing data governance frameworks often requires changing existing workflows, systems, and mindsets. Encouraging adoption of new governance guidelines and tools can be met with resistance, requiring strong communication and change management skills. Data Ownership and Accountability: You’ll need to facilitate the resolution of data ownership conflicts and ensure proper stewardship practices. Keeping Up with Evolving Technology: The rapid pace of technological change, particularly in cloud platforms and data analytics, can make it difficult to stay current with the latest tools and trends. You’ll need to continuously learn and adapt to ensure the organization uses the most effective solutions.
