The Senior Cloud and Data Engineering Lead sits within the Data, Digital and Innovation group under Securities Services Technology. The Senior Cloud and Data Engineering Lead is responsible for the overall success of the strategic program and underlying projects. This person must have adequate knowledge and information about the business and technology to be able to make informed decisions and ensure that a collaborative approach to working is adopted and have previous experience of technology-specific Porfilio Management. This role is expected to work in close partnership with other IT Leads and Managers, Product and Operations counterparts in ensuring coherent and complete project delivery for our Securities Services clients and may require direct interaction with those clients.
The Senior Cloud and Data Engineering Lead role will ensure alignment within Technology, Product and Operations, to achieve the overall objectives of the Data Platform Modernization in SST Information Management
This position reports to the Head of SST Information Management.
Responsibilities:
Establish and lead an elite engineering unit focused on building core components to support our businesses’ Data and Analytics capabilities for use across SST
Areas of responsibility include developing Cloud Data strategy, Data pipelines and ingestion frameworks, Streaming frameworks, Lineage frameworks, to support a diverse set of application and Analytical and ML use cases across SST
Create technology solutions and work in partnership with internal IT teams and with Cloud providers to accelerate public cloud Adoption and harness associated emerging technologies
Manage multiple teams of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions)
Provide strategic influence and exercise control over resources, budget management and planning while monitoring end results
Utilize in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues
Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards
Integrate in-depth knowledge of applications development with overall technology function to achieve established goals
Provide evaluative judgement based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations including drawing from internal and external sources
Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions, as well as communicate with external parties as necessary
Foster a culture of innovation and engineering excellence across the Enterprise: modern engineering practices, adoption of open source and open standards, creating a culture of collaboration and efficiency
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Deep expertise as a hands-on technical leader working on complex systems in a large organization, structuring, establishing, and leading multiple product-centric engineering teams
Deep engineering expertise building scalable Data products, with a practitioner understanding of Data warehousing, messaging, distributed Data architectures, and establishing Data platforms to support complex Analytical usage, including Operational ML use cases
Experience driving software delivery transformation through Agile practice and process, with a focus of establishing Continuous Delivery culture and process
Expertise in Cloud platforms and associated Developer Toolchains, DevOps models, and best practice
Exceptional communicator who loves working with people, confident communicating at all levels from an individual team to the entire enterprise
Highly credible hands-on engineer, confident to deep dive into a product and codebase and offer detailed, constructive analysis and feedback
Well-developed technical written communication skills and able to effectively use internal social media platforms to communicate across the group
