Location: Bristol only

The Senior Data Engineer will provide data technical expertise, delivery capability and project execution guidance across the development & IT Change community.

The role will be critical to ensuring development standards are maintained in delivering solutions to time and budgetary targets.

This role will suit a highly organised and effective communicator for all levels of stakeholders.

About the job:

  • Understands the detailed technical deliverables and requirements across multiple projects.
  • Is a technical expert in Data Engineering technologies and able to give informed technical input into the preparation of solution designs.
  • Will proactively balance their level of involvement within projects as necessary and supports and guides the development team as required.
  • Excellent understanding of Data Warehouse Methodologies.
  • Working within a Waterfall/Agile environment.
  • The Lead developer of ETL solutions on a project-by-project basis.
  • Uses their Technical knowledge to ensure solutions are performant, secure and follow governance standards.
  • Promotes the use and enhancement of shared utilities and common coding routines.
  • Supports production applications, including defect analysis and emergency fixes.
  • Is a point of contact across the wider DAP for technical guidance and support.


Skills and experience we're looking for:

  • Strong technical consultancy experience across ETL/ELT/Data Warehouse/Big Data but comfortable with hands on delivery.
  • Experienced in the use of ETL applications and advantageous to have used the Informatica suite of products (Power Centre, BDM, IICS, IDMC) alongside Experience in Cloud Technologies, AWS Data Lake.
  • Experienced in a variety of Database technologies (Postgres, Oracle, Snowflake).
  • Awareness of scripting languages such as Python and PySpark and uses within the context of data transfer/manipulation.
  • Ability to assimilate technical and business information and to help translate these into practical solutions alongside positively challenging existing and proposed solutions.
