The Role

As a Senior Data Engineer at Clear Business, you will play a key role in shaping the company’s data ecosystem. You’ll be responsible for designing and delivering scalable, high-performance data solutions that support the entire business.

This role is instrumental in developing and evolving our enterprise data platform, enabling data-driven decision-making and ensuring data is a strategic asset. You will contribute to major initiatives across the wider organisation, influencing how data is collected, stored, and used to power our business operations.

What we want you to do

  •  Lead the continued evolution of our data lake into a fully functioning enterprise data platform that supports business-wide reporting and analytics needs.
  • Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines for the acquisition, transformation, and storage of structured and unstructured data. Including technologies sql server, salesforce and databricks.
  • Support the development and deployment of machine learning capabilities by providing high-quality data pipelines and infrastructure.
  • Integrate critical data sources (e.g., Salesforce, debt management systems) into the data platform, ensuring seamless and accurate data flow across key business systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (data scientists, analysts, software engineers) to define and deliver technical solutions that meet business data requirements.
  • Optimise data infrastructure for performance, cost-efficiency, and scalability, including storage, processing, and retrieval systems.
  • Champion data governance, data quality, and security best practices across engineering processes.

  •  Delivery of automated, scalable data pipelines that significantly enhance data science and analytics capability.
  • Consistent, high-quality output in a fast-paced, agile environment with a strong focus on stakeholder engagement.
  • Implementation of strong data governance, with security and privacy embedded into engineering solutions.
  • Introduction of innovative engineering practices that improve operational efficiency and reduce data platform costs.

What you need to have already done to be right for this role

  •  Minimum 3 years of experience in a Data Engineering role, working on large-scale data processing and integration projects.
  • Proven experience in cloud-based data engineering, ideally using Microsoft Azure and Databricks.
  • Strong expertise in SQL (5+ years) and Python (3+ years) for data transformation and automation.
  • Demonstrated experience of delivering data solutions in collaboration with senior business stakeholders.

Skills

  •  Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into well-architected data solutions.
  • Technical proficiency across:
  • SQL (advanced level)
  • Python for data engineering tasks
  • Azure-based data services (e.g., Data Factory, Databricks)
  • Data warehousing and data lake architecture
  • Innovative mindset with the ability to evaluate and implement emerging data technologies.
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and a solution-focused approach.
