Job Title: Senior Data Architect (AI)

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Edinburgh or Glasgow or Alderley Park

Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based

 

 

The Group Data Office (GDO) is responsible for enhancing the effectiveness of how data is used across Royal London.  The function provides Data Governance, Data Management, Data Strategy, Analytics/AI, and Insight Capabilities. It sets and oversees data related policies and standards, so data is collected, processed, and exploited in accordance with the Group’s risk appetite. 

 

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Senior Data & AI Architect to join the GDO Team. Reporting into the Enterprise Data Architect, you will be responsible for defining, designing, and overseeing implementation of AI powered systems that solve complex business challenges. You will work across large scale data & digital transformation programmes, collaborating closely with engineers, data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure AI initiatives are aligned with strategic objectives.

 

 

About the Role

  • Lead the architectural design of advanced AI and machine learning solutions
  • Define AI roadmaps, frameworks, and reference architectures in line with business goals
  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate business needs into AI strategies
  • Ensure AI solutions are secure, scalable, explainable, and ethically sound
  • Stay current with industry developments and bring forward innovative ideas and approaches
  • Work closely with Enterprise Data Architect, and Group Technology and Digital functions to ensure alignment to end-to-end domain architecture, docking into existing architecture design authority/boards where appropriate
  • Build strong business relationships with key stakeholders to understand their current challenges and act as a champion for delivering a data architecture to solve their problems and democratise data

 

About You

  • Strong experience in AI/ML solution architecture with large-scale, complex environments.
  • Proven experience with Cloud platforms, such as Azure or AWS and Data Platforms such as Azure Databricks
  • Exposure to generative AI and foundation models (LLMs)
  • Capability to develop presentations for and present to executive and senior level committees
  • Strong Influencing and communication skills and abilities, with business and technical teams
  • Experience of UK Financial Services or other regulated industries
