Overview

Senior Data Architect role in corporate and investment banking (primary and secondary markets). The client is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Technical Data Architect to join the team. This senior-level role requires leadership with deep technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to influence stakeholders inside the local regional entity and the global group. The ideal candidate will work with current architects to drive the Technical Data Strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and business goals. Location: 100 Liverpool Street, London – hybrid. Contract to 31 March.


Responsibilities


  • Role will be responsible for developing solution designs for a portfolio of projects across the EMEA entity and overseeing solution designs developed by others, with a focus on data solutions to be delivered by the EMEA Data and Analytics technology team.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in other entities across the global group to share thinking, define technical strategy and drive its consistent application where possible.
  • Work with the Data Office to understand requirements and formulate strategies to deliver the long term goals of the enterprise.
  • Engage with other departments across IT and the business to understand use cases for setting the technical strategy.
  • Communicate and explain solutions to technical delivery teams and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Escalate any issues to Head of Data and Analytics Technology for EMEA.


Experience / Qualifications


  • Deep and broad experience of developing technical data solutions in large or medium sized enterprises in a similar role.
  • Defining technical strategy and roadmaps for delivery in medium to large enterprises.
  • Strong knowledge of database systems, data modeling, and data integration technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Strong experience of different data architectures including hub and spoke, data lakes, data fabrics, lakehouses, at enterprise-wide and application levels.
  • Strong experience of data reporting solutions from data warehousing (Kimball and Inmon), ETL, reporting tools, and document stores.
  • Exceptional communication skills to explain concepts and solution designs to stakeholders across the enterprise.
  • Clear formal communication skills to document ideas and solutions.
  • Collaborative and curious approach to developing well thought through architectures, strategies, and solutions.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Capital markets, asset management, or corporate banking experience in financial institutions.
  • Familiarity with data governance and compliance regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Strong experience of Agile practices, including Scrum of Scrums and Atlassian tooling.
  • Proficiency in database management systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
  • Experience with data analytics tools such as Python and R.
  • Data modelling tooling such as Power Designer.
  • Experience with business intelligence tools.
  • Experience of working with Data Office departments.
