Total Package: £57,500 - £62,500. £62,500 London, £59,250 Milton Keynes, £57,500 East Kilbride

Contract: Permanent and full time. Upon appointment, a non-pensionable, non-consolidated specialist allowance of up to £11,200 may be offered depending on demonstration of skills, competence, experience, and location. Youll be required to work in line with FCDO policies on hybrid working, which involves a minimum of 60% in the office.

Your role with us

The FCDO relies on the very latest tools and systems to help them deliver a positive global impact. Our Information and Digital Directorate provides the digital, data and technology services we need to achieve this ambition, and its Data Architecture Function defines the processes which govern what data is collected and presented for analysis and reporting. When you join us in this vital hands-on role youll work towards becoming an expert in one or more core FCDO data domains, and focus on understanding, cataloguing and modelling data, data flows, metadata and data interactions.

Working with product delivery teams and technical architects to ensure that systems, solutions, reporting and data are correctly designed and offer assured patterns that can be reused across the FCDO, youll support the delivery of optimal data architecture design, principles, processes, standards and tools. With the opportunity to gain experience of data and technologies across our multi-cloud infrastructure, youll collaborate with professional data communities across our organisation and the UK government, and help the FCDO become a visible and positive contributor to data architecture.

Who Were Looking For

To be a success in this important role you should possess the proactive communication skills necessary to explain complex data concepts to a range of technical and non-technical audiences. With the confidence to consult, advise and influence as you work to ensure data products meet project objectives, align with standards and strategy, and are future-proof, you should also have substantial technical understanding of data modelling frameworks, tools and techniques.

Capable of identifying and applying existing patterns effectively, and designing new models to address specific challenges, youll consider dependencies and impacts across business areas and data domains, and be skilled at designing models suitable for complex, multi-cloud environments. You should also possess the skills to define, develop and promote data standards, be a strong advocate for consistent design, and be ready to work with delivery teams to ensure our high quality standards are applied effectively.
