Job Title:Data Architect – AWS Cloud (Public Sector)

Location:Primarily remote with occasional travel on-site.

Type:Contract

Duration:6 Months

Rate:£700/day Inside IR35


About the Role

We are seeking an experiencedData Architectwith a strong background incloud-native solutions on AWSto join a leading consultancy delivering cutting-edge data platforms for a public sector client. This is a key role where you will lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and cost-effective data architectures in compliance with government standards and best practices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end data architecture design for cloud-native solutions inAWS.
  • Translate business requirements into robust, scalable data platform solutions.
  • Design data ingestion, transformation, storage, and access layers using AWS services (e.g., S3, Glue, Redshift, Lambda, Athena).
  • Define data governance, security, and compliance frameworks aligned with public sector standards (e.g., GDPR, GDS, NCSC).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, engineers, and analysts to ensure effective delivery and integration.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to data engineering teams.


Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a Data Architect, ideally in public sector or highly regulated environments.
  • Expert knowledge ofAWS cloud-native data services.
  • Strong understanding of data modelling, data warehousing, and data integration patterns.
  • Familiarity withdata governance, security, and compliance within government or public-facing services.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.


Desirable:

  • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty, Solutions Architect).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Knowledge of other cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, GCP) is a bonus.
