YouView's TV experience is powered by our reliable, resilient, and secure cloud backend, and our unique firmware allows us to control media playback, security and lower-level components. Our platform delivers variety and convenience by combining on-demand with live TV through an integrated editorial lens, which means our users get the best rich and relevant TV content across both free and pay services.

YouView has proudly collaborated with Everyone TV to introduce Freely, a ground-breaking streaming service that is set to revolutionise free TV in the UK. Launched in April 2024, Freely offers users a seamless experience by providing a single access point to stream live and on-demand content from all major UK broadcasters, eliminating the hassle of app-switching.

We are thrilled to serve as the technology partner to ETV in bringing to market a TV experience that will enable millions of UK households to discover and enjoy the best of free TV on the next generation of leading Smart TVs. Our collaboration with ETV aligns with their mission of ensuring the universality of public-service television is sustained into the future. Moreover, it contributes to ensuring that the broadcasting landscape remains as competitive, creative, and inclusive as it is today.

The Role

YouView has a central data and insights team, which is responsible for the end-to-end value chain for all things YouView data, from providing data instrumentation and engineering requirements, gaining behavioural insights, to building data science and experimentation capabilities.

We are seeking a proactive Data Analyst who is passionate about both deep-dive analysis and the foundational principles of data governance. This hybrid role requires a sharp analytical mind to turn data into actionable insights, combined with the strategic ability to introduce and maintain a robust data governance framework. The ideal candidate will be a bridge between our data and our business, ensuring our information is not only insightful but also trusted, accurate, and compliant.

Analytical Responsibilities

  • Perform Data Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of complex datasets to identify trends, measure performance, and uncover business opportunities.
  • Create Visualisations: Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using tools like Looker to communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.
  • Provide Strategic Insights: Translate analytical results into clear, actionable recommendations that drive business decisions.
  • Develop Data Models: Design and build data models that support reporting and analytical needs, ensuring data is structured for efficiency and clarity.


Data Governance Responsibilities

  • Develop and Implement Data Governance Policies: Partner with business leaders to define and document data policies, standards, and procedures, and ensure clarity on roles and responsibilities.
  • Framework Rollout: Lead or assist in the introduction and adoption of a data governance framework across the organization. This includes developing training materials and conducting workshops to promote data literacy and adherence to policies.
  • Data Lineage and Cataloging: Work with technical teams to document data lineage and create a comprehensive data catalog.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a liaison between business and technical teams, translating business needs into data requirements and ensuring data solutions align with governance principles.
  • Data Quality Management: Identify and investigate data quality issues, contributing to the development of root cause analyses and solutions.


Essential Skills & Experience

  • Data Governance: Direct experience in creating, delivering, or managing a data governance framework.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze complex datasets and identify trends, patterns, and issues.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in SQL for data querying and manipulation. Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and data governance platforms (e.g., Collibra, Informatica).
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactive and detail-oriented approach to identifying and resolving data-related challenges.
  • Project Management: Experience in managing projects, particularly those related to data quality or governance initiatives.
