About the Role:

This role supports the Head of Data across a range of strategic and operational initiatives, with a particular focus on Master Data Management (MDM) projects for LII (including APAC), LMRe, and the GRS MDM initiative. It involves regular engagement with key stakeholders to ensure reporting requirements are met and to explore opportunities for enhanced data mapping. The role contributes to communication efforts across the business regarding mapping progress and data conformity, while also helping to identify and implement controls that improve data integrity and reduce inaccuracies. It plays a key part in driving data standardisation and optimisation within existing systems to support a single source of truth.

Responsibilities include translating business needs into data specifications, supporting straight-through processing (STP) for client and policy data, resolving data issues, and producing clear business requirement documentation. The role also supports root cause analysis of data quality issues, proposes process enhancements, and provides training and documentation to promote consistent data handling practices. A strong understanding of data governance, integrity, and MDM principles is essential, along with the ability to escalate blockers and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

About the Department & Team:

Management Information encompasses a number of analysts and teams which cover all areas of analytics from Business Intelligence to Management Reporting, Dashboards, Portals, Statistics, Operational Data and Governance; utilising the application of management techniques to collect and communicate information to the wider business and process to enable managers to make quicker and more well informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support head of Data in MDM (Master Data Management Project) for LII (incl. APAC) and LMRe and to support the GRS MDM Initiative.

• Support Head of Data with regular meetings with Key Stakeholders to ensure that their requirements are fulfilled when it comes to IBD Reporting and potential for improved mapping capabilities.

• Support head of Data to manage communication out to the wider business on the progress of mappings, and opportunities of conformity of data.

• Support Head of Data to identify additional controls to be implemented where appropriate and to reduce inaccurate operational data, subsequently improving the data integrity.

• Support Head of Data to proactively identify opportunities for improvement and standardisation of data within existing applications and tools to support the single source of truth methodology.

• Collaborate with business teams to understand data needs

• Support with ad hoc queries

• Experience implementing controls to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of client, policy, and claims data.

• Support the implementation of straight-through processing (STP) for client and policy data.

• Produce clear business requirement documentation to support analysis

• Translate business requirements into data specifications and operational processes.

• Understanding the importance of the Data Governance, Data Integrity and MDM functions

• Escalate concerns and blockers as needed.

• Support root cause analysis of data quality issues and implement preventative controls to reduce recurrence.

• Identify inefficiencies in data entry, validation, and flow between systems; propose and implement enhancements to improve reliability and reduce manual effort.

• Support business users with data issue resolution, system queries, and process clarification.

• Provide training and documentation to ensure consistent data handling practices across teams.

• Understanding and demonstrated ability to solve business process issues by making proposals on best practice and improvements.

Skills and Experience:

• Ability to analyse data trends, identify root causes of data issues, and recommend corrective actions.

• Skilled in using data to support operational decision-making and continuous improvement.

• Comfortable leading discussions on data standards, system enhancements, and process changes.

• Advanced Excel skills

• Preparing summary reports/able to present findings to senior stakeholders

• Exceptional attention to detail

• Strong communication skills and ability to problem solve

• Use Visio or LUCID Chart to produce data flows to demonstrate processes

• Timekeeping and ability to self-start/organize priorities

• Experience in Insurance terminology and market practices with ability to demonstrate an understanding of key concepts and frameworks such as MDM or Data Governance.

• Awareness/exposure to London market systems/tools, such as DQPro, Informatica, IRIS, Genius and Salesforce is beneficial but not essential.
