Job DetailsPosition Summary

Cencora seeks an attorney with extensive experience in data governance, privacy, cybersecurity, and emerging AI issues to provide strategic legal advice on data risk management and innovation. Reporting to theAssistant General Counsel - Data Governance, Privacy, and Cybersecurity, this role involves collaboration across legal, business, and functional teams globally.

The role requires expertise in EU, UK, Swiss, and Asia-Pacific privacy, cybersecurity, and AI laws, regulations, and guidance. The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills, practical legal acumen, and project management capabilities, providing strategic insights to ensure compliance and governance in emerging data and technology areas.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Advise on complex legal, regulatory, and policy issues related to data privacy (GDPR, Swiss, UK, Asia-Pacific laws), cybersecurity (e.g., NIS2), and AI (including EU AI Act).
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, such as data processing agreements and privacy/security clauses, including creating templates and playbooks for efficient issue management.
  • Assess and mitigate harms from privacy and cybersecurity incidents through effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Review technology proposals involving privacy, cyber, and AI risks, offering pragmatic, privacy-by-design solutions.
  • Demonstrate calm, decisive decision-making during incidents or high-risk scenarios, with clear communication to leadership.
  • Manage multiple projects efficiently, prioritizing high-value or high-risk tasks strategically.

Experience and Education Requirements

Minimum of 5-7 years as a qualified lawyer with expertise in cybersecurity and privacy/data governance. In-house experience and collaboration with multinational companies preferred. Experience in healthcare legal work is a plus. Must be qualified from a reputable solicitor or equivalent program.

Minimum Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of privacy, cybersecurity, emerging AI laws across multiple jurisdictions, including healthcare-specific regulations.
  • Ability to synthesize legal themes across jurisdictions for risk management advice.
  • Experience managing external counsel and working with specialists.
  • Ability to understand and integrate evolving business models, technology trends, and legal requirements.
  • Proven ability to advise senior management with clear risk assessments and solutions.
  • Strong soft skills for incident management and risk escalation, projecting confidence under pressure.
  • Experience partnering with compliance teams and defining operational targets.
  • Certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, AIGP, CIPT, CISSP are preferred.
  • Excellent negotiation, prioritization, multitasking, and client management skills.
  • Fluency in English required; additional languages (German, French, Spanish) advantageous.
