Senior Cloud Engineer

 

 

Location: UK, Ireland, Netherlands (Remote, Hybrid, Office)

 

Position Summary:

The Senior Cloud Engineer leads the team monitoring and support of the customer cloud environments managing the operation of highly available, robust, and scalable applications for our customers, using modern technologies.  The Senior Cloud Engineer oversees the development, testing, and implementation of infrastructures to build the foundation for successful customer cloud environments. It is their responsibility to oversee the end-to-end ownership from operations to maintenance. As part of a cross-functional agile team, the Cloud Engineers maintain an understanding of the latest technologies utilising this knowledge to creativity face the challenges of cloud environments, and contribute to our company standards.  They act as mentors guiding the more junior members of the team.

 

We will rely on you for the following:

  • Lead on the design and architect infrastructure solutions that align with industry best practices and security standards
  • Lead on the development of detailed technical documentation, including system diagrams, deployment procedures, and operational guidelines
  • Oversee the daily operations of various cloud-based customer environments
  • Support and guide the Cloud Engineers in the management and process of customer requests, incidents, problems, and change requests for cloud-based customer environments
  • Oversee the configuration management database (CMDB) ensuring it is up to date, ensuring visibility of the various customer environments and services, including their status
  • Ensure efficient functioning of data storage and processing functions in accordance with company security policies and best practices in cloud security
  • Identify, analyse, and resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues
  • Regularly review existing systems and make recommendations for improvements
  • Key point of contact for clients, providing support, and making recommendations based on client needs.
  • The position may require monthly on-call duty during evenings and weekends to address urgent customer issues.

 

 

What You Bring to The Team:

  • Degree in Information and Communication Technology (or similar education) or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years’ experience in cloud engineering
  • Expert in Citrix Technologies specifically NetScaler and Virtual Apps and Desktops.
  • Expert in scripting languages, specifically PowerShell and VBScript
  • Expert with Windows Server Operating Systems
  • Experience Administering VMWare
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Expert in the application of standards and best practices

 

 

What would make you stand out: 

  • Experience with PHP HTML and CSS
  • Experience with SMTP
  • Experience with Apache
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure or other cloud providers
  • Experienced in ITIL Service Management and IT Support processes
  • Experienced with methodologies and practices like DevOps, Agile, and/or Scrum
  • Experience with automation tools to monitor and manage cloud resources
