Careers that Change Lives
Acquired by Medtronic – the world’s largest medical device company – in 2019, Digital Technologies is a part of the Surgical Robotics operating unit. The company was founded by two surgeons to realize the mission of bringing safe and standardized surgical care to patients around the world.
As a Senior Artificial Intelligence Engineer, focused on algorithm optimization, you will help to design, implement, and optimize Machine Learning models to achieve low latency on edge and cloud devices. You will become part of a talented team exploring new concepts through fast iterative prototyping. You will collaborate as an AI optimization expert with our other machine learning engineers, platform engineers, embedded software engineers and research experts of the team.
A Day in the Life
In our computer vision/machine learning team, you will be responsible for:
• Benchmarking and optimizing different existing network architectures and their latency in different target platforms
• Further re-designing or optimizing existing network architectures to improve their forward flow and reduce latency
• Developing production pipelines in the cloud or edge devices to process surgical videos in real-time with our optimized models
• Delivering well-written and high-quality code
• Sharing results during regular meetings
• Staying updated with state-of-the-art methods and propose novel approaches for problems at hand (we try to devote time to do research and share it with the team)
Must Haves
• A Master or PhD in, Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Vision/Machine Learning or similar related field
• Proven ability to design and build computer vision networks using Pytorch
• Knowledge of different optimization methods (e.g. pruning, sparsity, quantization etc..)
• Experience with AI optimization tools (e.g. TensorRT)
• Very knowledgeable in Python and relevant numerical libraries (numpy, scikit-learn, opencv, etc.)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Computer Vision
Nice to Haves
• Advanced knowledge on AI-based optimization methods (QAT, Knowledge Distillation, Network Sparsification etc..)
• Knowledge of AWS cloud and experience with their services (EKS, ECS, ...) and docker
• Knowledge of C++ and CUDA, and ideally experience writing custom kernels / operators
• Data visualization experience would also be useful for this role
• Excellent communicator - You are comfortable talking with programmers, marketers, surgeons, business leaders, and everyone in-between
• Experience of working in video processing or equivalent performance sensitive or high-performance applications
